BMR Catless DPs vs AR Design
Hey guys,
I was wondering what the comparison between BMRs own stainless DPs and the AR Design were. They look very similar, and I've heard say they're essentially the same with the difference being the BMR pipes are cheaper. Thoughts? Are the BMR pipes a suitable replacement over spending more for the AR Design? I'm more interested in sound than I am gaining a few kw. |

Basically just a 3" pipe, should be much of a muchness from my understanding, although the AR design look better and have the option of ceramic coating.
Also keep in mind the install cost |

As long as the BMR pipes sound as good as AR Design I'm sold.
Has anyone heard the BMR pipes and can comment? P.S. These would be for an N54. Last edited by Dingers; 11-22-2015 at 04:06 PM.. |

Socket I want to buy one soon.. im leaning towards ar design. Catted or catless? Not sure which is better for performance.. why would people choose catted over catless?

I thought the whole propose people changing dp is to make it catless? So that air flow better, turbo spool faster and louder sound?
I also want to know the logic behind changing a stock DP to an aftermarket catted dp. |

A true 3" DP goes a long way to significantly reducing the exhaust gas back-pressure that the turbine wheel sees, the choke point of the OEM turbochargers is the relatively small turbine housing, a catless DP will allow for maximum exhaust gas scavenging from the engine before the turbine wheel and housing itself become the limitation. Only go high-flow catted if you want to stay on the right side of the boys in Blue, the catalytic converters are there for a reason but it's not for a performance benefit. The ar' design catless are the best manufactured N54 DP on the market, but BMR and VRSF v2's are significantly cheaper and will offer the same results albeit at reduced sex appeal when compared side by side. Oh and yeah ALL true 3" DP's should provide the same aural pleasure. |

Plus the above only really applies back in my skyline days, you will get cop attention and much higher chance of getting defected. Bmw in comparison don't have the same 'hoon image' to it, so I wouldn't worry too much unless your car was riced fast and furious style. |

If you still have secondary cats, I'd say you have exactly zero chance of issues with po-po. They can stick their head under the car and see cats. You can't really see the downpipes at all.
I bought Wagner Tuning because they have flex sections, I like the smooth openings to the turbo v-bands, they're 2.75" and they fit perfectly. Twin 2.75" pipes have the same area as a single 4" pipe which is huge so anyone who thinks there is a power difference between 2.75" and 3" under 450rwkw is kidding themselves IMO. |

I have the BMR 3'' catless pipes. Catless pipes sound great, then i added a BMW PE exhaust which made it much louder again... Sounds like a boat motor, apparently thats all the rage with bmw fans hahaha

do you happen to know how the fitment was on the Wagner DP's? How RHD friendly is the bank 1 turbo DP front o2 bung placement? I actually sell the VRSF v2's as they are a great bang for buck DP they have excellent RHD fitment, I would be keen to have a look at the Wagner's too if I knew fitment was not a headfxxx. |

When you say true 3" DP's you mean all the way to the flange right? My AR's and i believe all AR's have a longer 3" section, however the flange is a 2.5" which means the 3" section reduces to 2.5" right at the end.
