Shipping vehicles

I'm looking to ship a car within the next couple months and wondering if anyone has shipped a car within the past year and can recommend a company that is affordable and will take care of the vehicle. Enclosed transport isn't necessary but preferred. Looking for a smooth process. I plan on shipping the car from Washington, DC to Los Angeles, CA. Thanks in advance.

A Google search will yield tones more feedback on this than a select group of 3 series owners.

Used Oranage Transport last summer to ship from Wis. to Phoenix. Very satisfied...no extra charges and they did what they said they would do. If you put your name on a broker board you will get many, many calls and emails for months and months.

I used uship.com to ship a previous vehicle to me.
Uship is like the eBay of shipping/hauling/transport.
There are many private, amatuer and professional vendors that will bid on your business.

You choose the one you want. They have a review/feedback section to ease your mind.
Prices range from high to low. You can specify how you want your car shipped.
Most vendors are insured too.

All in all, I rate the service an A+. They shipped my car fast, cheap and safely.
Of course, this all depends on the vendor you choose.

Good luck!

I can't remember the company name, but how I found them was using the BBB accreditation....

Make sure you use a reputable company that has good insurance, etc... if anything gets damaged during transportation you don't want to have to deal with headaches getting it fixed.

Most of these companies use independent drivers just FYI; and from a pricing standpoint cost me about $650 to have a car shipped from FL to PA... took about 7 or 8 days with them stopping all along the east coast along their way.

I used http://www.dasautoshippers.com/ to ship a car I purchased from San Antonio Texas to myself in Saint Paul. Dealer dropped it off at the terminal location and I picked it up from the location near me. Process was pretty simple. Car sat for a little while in the original terminal waiting for a full shipment to come my way. No issues, and the price was competitive with others. If I recall I paid $850.

I used Montway and had a very good experience with them. I heard to many horror stories about open carrier, so I went enclosed.

So I just shipped my car from FL to IL 4 months ago and it was a breeze. I used King of the Road Transport (http://www.kingoftheroadtransport.com) and they did a fantastic job to help me. More than accommodating and was very helpful in making sure I understood the entire process.

End of the day, no matter who you use, they all chose from the same pool of truckers who are moving cars from one place to another. Whoever you chose is essentially a middle man unless specifically stated otherwise.

Make sure you ask for a blank contract to see what is covered and how they do business, use uship, BBB and Transport Reviews (http://www.transportreviews.com/) to zero in on who you want to chose. My experience was awesome; hope yours goes very well as well!

hello, Efini

there are a lot of car shipping companies that provide such service. you can look through the reviews on them on Transport Reviews website and find one with the really high reputation.

I had an experience of shipping my car (2009 E90) in September this year from Florida to Arizona, the cost for enclosed hauler was $1200. But you should take into account that not all drivers are able to pick a car for the downtown of Washington, they will probably suggest you to meet a bit far from your home address.
