Oil filter leak?
Hey guys,
Just noticed that my oil level has decreased quite a bit (current mileage is 66,025km, last oil change was at 60,300km, Aug.2015). I've browsed some threads in regards to this, and have found out that the cause of this oil leak may be related to the oil filter/cooler housing gasket. Any input is much appreciated Please refer to pictures below: |

Need to replace that asap. The longer you take to replace the oil filter housing and cooler gaskets the higher chance you will have the drive belt swell up and come apart causing it to get sucked into the front main seal thus causing internal engine damage where the timing gets involved. I've had to replace the drive belt with new OFHG and cooler gaskets, front main seal, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, removing oil pump pick up screen to clean out drive belt debris. And retiming of engine. Good luck.

You may want to do a oil change and coolant flush just to be sure there is no cross contamination. If there is oil seeping into the coolant it can clog up parts of your system like the heater core.

Thank you guys for your input, much appreciated Hopefully these gaskets won't need replacing for a while. I also flushed the coolant and new engine oil was added-thanks Blackturbo
Many thanks to NGEE and Augster for their comprehensive DIY's Some stuff I noticed during the DIY: -The Torx screws on the front intake duct were standard Phillips -To clarify which socket to use on Step 17 of NGEE's DIY, it's an 11mm 6 point -Step A of Augster's DIY states to use a 12mm socket to remove the oil cooler lines, although mine was a 13mm Here are some random pictures of the DIY: |

I'm 45k and it seems ok. I check every few thousand, but I do start to worry a bit.
I have Route 66 warranty, can anyone confirm if it covers the ofhg?
