Help needed with INSURANCE,!!

Well in the past I have had a few M cars and found the insurance to be ok.. But now I ring them to find they will not insure the car without it having a tracker fitted....... I am 43 have full no claims , no points or accidents and live in a good area ..... Who are you insured through and did they insist on a tracker needing fitted? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm with Admiral, there was a very minimal cost benefit of having a tracker, nowhere near its cost and they were perfectly happy to insure me without.

Axel,
I commented on babybmw, ive gone with Churchill, for a good price, and no tracker needed. This was last January, so unless there has been a policy change, i would give them a call.

I just changed from esure to admiral for this reason, no tracker needed and also £1480 per year cheaper for the quote.

Their quote was absurd I'm 35 with 9 years ncb and they wanted just over £2k per year with 950 excess admiral far cheaper and all mperformance add ons (exhaust, all aero trim etc) only added about £40 to the quote.

It really comes down to a lottery type affair with insurance these days.

I had an amazing deal from Esure recently on renewal. Was cheaper by roughly £500 from last years and also renewal price from last company.

To make deal even better I insured a second car with them and received a 10% or so discount on both. And I even get the same 6 years NCB if I don't have a claim on second car.
And carrying on my excess on M3 was reduced from £700 to £500 (maybe £400)

So I saved about £1100-1200 from last years premiums.

I just got a quote from Admiral. They want £1,700!!! I'm not young, have 15 years no claims, and one SP30 from 2012. Are those of you paying around £500 taking these "black box" policies?

I'll try some other companies but I'm not paying that much. This might stop me getting an M

Hi Mate,
Im 49 1 SP30 from Dec 13, and i paid under £500 with Churchill last January, also no tracker needed. Mine is obviously up in a few weeks now, so im hoping they play ball again, otherwise i will be shopping around. Give them a try, i think £1700 is way OTT, good luck, regards, SIMON.

PS no black box needed.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for that. I just put my details in confused.com and they're coming out between £650 and £700 for the insurance but with an excess of £800-£1,000. This is combination of voluntary and compulsory. How does this compare to yours if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks,

CH.

Hi CH,
Just checked my policy, and im showing £550 excess, and £100 voluntary excess, so £650 altogether. I bet they wont offer me that again this year though, im hoping they do, but once they have you after the first year, i dont think they try as hard. Im hoping i can stay with them though, if they dont put up the premium too much, regards, SIMON.

I'm 27 and have no accidents or citations. Progressive was perfectly fine without having me fit a tracker and the rates are about as expected for a male my age.

30 and 4 years no claims, 3 points and mine shot up from £455 to £615 this year

Cheapest quote on go compare was £762!

More of these must be getting stolen/written off I think.
