It's a BMW car and so it's perfectly on-topic.

I'm still on fence over it. Looks wise, it definitely appeals to me more in this video than before (although I still have an issue with that vertical rear reflector). Also sad they didn't offer an option to have say alcantara seats rather than hippo leather.

But proof will be in the driving and I'm looking forward to trying one. Fact is there are faster cars out there. What this car should offer is a rear wheel drive, excellent damped, LSD'd option that rises above pure performance figures.

Still have option on an M2 Vert for wife, should they produce one (yes, I know that defeats the purpose and would also mean we have two M's in the house).

How come the M2 doesn't have the usual M wing mirrors?

That's a massive own goal and smacks of sheer laziness on BMW's part.

The problem is, if they throw too much at it, BMW will never sell another M4.

Yup it will drive great which is the point of it of course but no M mirrors, no power dome, no CF roof, no CF drive shaft or CF engine brace and boot, no S engine. No M seats or M switches for selecting modes, or M dials. Oh and you will need to put your own spoiler on it too and I'm not certain about an oil temp gauge? Entry level M.
