Makes me wonder if this can be done with the stock manifold.

Yup it was released a few months ago and I haven't read a bad review of it except it being quite expensive:

Someone attempted it but IIRC he received criticism on the angle of the injectors being less than ideal on the stock manifold.

Yep, injectors and everything that comes with the kit.

Asking price plus ~$90USD shipping, which I thought was really reasonable.

Then converted to AUD.

You could, but it wouldn't be advisable!

The issue being that the stock inlet is plastic, so you would be inserting bungs to hold the injectors in with into plastic. Over time the fuel pressure could cause a bung to come loose, which could cause a fuel leak...

That's why all the port injection kits have aluminium flange/plate or in this scenario a replacement cast manifold.

Interesting, but there's no room for injectors! They're so short to fit between the rail and plenum...wonder if ID make a set small enough?

sorry, but may I ask, why going to port injection?

I thought direct injection is superior than port injection?

http://thechronicleherald.ca/wheelsn...port-injection

If I am not wrong, my previous 325 is port injection and I found the 335 that I have got now is using less fuel than that in term of power output.

Direct injection is definitely superior! More accurate and you can make more power while using less fuel.

Port injection is a simple way of overcoming the fact that you can't easily upgrade the high pressure fuel pump. If you were designing a system from scratch you would obviously just put in a HPFP that will flow enough fuel to support the power.

These port injection systems just inject extra fuel into the ports to support the extra power mods. This is needed due to the fact that more power needs more fuel and if you are running E85, you'll need even more fuel. This is because E85 has about 30% less energy so you'll need to inject even more fuel to compensate.

On other platforms you can just buy an upgraded HPFP which has a bigger piston. Unfortunately can't easily be done on this platform due to the style of HPFP we have. It is not cam driven (just a piston moving in and out), it is similar to a diesel hpfp which is chain driven. I wonder if it would be possible to adapt a high flowing diesel HPFP in these cars? There looks like theres a decent amount of space in that area of the engine.

Are the shotgun upgrades (single or double barrel) from vargas any good? in comparison to these port injection kits?

Don't know if its a good idea to overdrive a stock HPFP that is already prone to failure which is what the VTT kit does. Seems like the platform has moved onto port injection now, haven't heard of any development on HPFP upgrades.

From a pure power perspective you can always more fuel flow from a port injection system easier. But the engineer in me will prefer a purely direction injection system, just because its a superior technology and you don't need all these extra controllers and injectors adding complexity to an already complex engine.
