CEL and car shaking/rough vibrating idle
Guys I need help
So I got my car back from Advan this afternoon. Installed downpipes, charge pipe and BOV. I drove the car home in heavy traffic, no issues (other than the bad wastegate rattle). I had dinner then decided to take the car for a little spin in the quite back roads. As soon as I put my foot down the little engine light in the upper right hand corner came on and the car did not feel right. I then decided to drive back home very gently and then the light went away and the car felt normal again. So I decided to give it another go. Same thing happened, light came on but this time it stayed on. Car was shaking and not revving properly and the idle is very rough. Car is now sitting in the driveway =( Any ideas? could it be the O2 sensors? hpfp? coils? |

Have you at least opened the bonnet and look for anything out of place? Like charge pipe not fitted correctly? Did the car go into limp mode?
Most likely something was stuffed up during the installation of the new bits. Parts not fitted correctly, broke stuff during installation, didn't reconnect a plug etc

o2 sensor is my guess, same thing happened when Active did mine
It often gets damaged when the DPs are installed Obvious advice is to take it back |

Nothing looks visibly wrong in the bonnet.
Advan is 40mins from my house. I need the car to get to work ffs Another mechanic who looked at my car last week said everything was perfect. including the spark plugs and coils after doing my service. They plugged it in and there was no misfire codes (there was less than 100kms before it was taken to Advan the following week). ANYWAY, called Advan this morning and they believe I need new spark plugs/coils. Apparently my car misfired while on the dyno but I was never told when picking up the car... |

Get your jb4 cable installed. But you still should be able to do in-dash code reading in the mean time... Maybe google it.
If its a misfire then no biggie, plugs and coils will sort that out and if it did it on the dyno then it's likely this is the problem. I'm surprised Advan didn't tell you about it and recommend replacing these parts. |

everyone who has a tuned n54 has issues with plugs and coils, dont stuff around just change em and 9/10 thats the issue!
SCA offers oem bosch coils and AFAIK bosch plugs also (may have to order them in though) This video demonstrates the reason why: This is not just a bmw thing, occurs on RB26 equipped GTR's also... |
