New Audi A4
I know this will probably not go down well with some on this forum but I have recently traded in my 320 sports for a new A4. I had intended to change up to a 330 but as I looked round it in the showroom I realised despite the recent facelift it is basically the same as my 2 year old. If I'm honest as soon as I looked at the A4 (especially the interior) my mind was made up. I went for the 3.0tdi Quattro, 272HP, 600NM torque for the same price I was quoted for the change to the 330.
I have always enjoyed keeping an eye on the threads on this forum and I will pop in occasionally.. wondering what comments I will receive.. Please keep the abuse to a minimum |

When I left Merc to come to BMW I posted a similar message on MB pistonhead site. Didn't get one response.
I think it is testament to the people on this forum that they do actually wish you well....but you will get slagged! My wife had 4 Aldis and now has BMW. She saw the light! Enjoy your A4, it is a great engine. But who knows, you may be back one day! Good luck! |

Similar experience here when I left Jaguar to go back to BMW I posted pictures of my 3 series and got some mild abuse. Jaguar owners do seem to be very up themselves!

Congrats I'm sure it will be awesome, there's no mediocre anymore in these sectors. I agree with what you say, every time I change I could not just go for a different engine, need a new car all round.

Good luck, but I find it odd that you decide to start posting when you change cars!!!

With the number of global class actions being brought against VAG and its engines a mix of horrendous shares forecasts running in to billions, loss of EU credit rating, recalls, new clas actions against its 3.0litre engines..
Yep sensible money is on big engine VW's |

Now I do sometimes miss my Audi, you know, auto wipers that actually work at the right speed, and don't need switching on every time; left and right temp setting in one go....some other things which I've completely forgotten since having a bmw 3.0 engine...but to get an audi now given what's still going on? Really?

With regards to the emissions, it doesn't effect Euro 6 engines. Just be prepared to spend any road tax savings in AdBlue top ups.

No grief from me.
I had an S4 before my 335d. Yes, it didn't steer like the BMW, but it had enough good attributes to make it a car I really enjoyed and would be happy to own again in the future. I really like my 335d, but I'm under no illusions that BMW are the only manufacturer of good cars. IMO the only perfect car would be a combination of a few cars best points! Enjoy your car when you get it and come back to share your thoughts

Congrats, and looking forward to some pics and thoughts when it arrives.
I ran an A3 2.0 TDi DSG for 3 years as a company motor and the other half had an A4 Cabrio and now has an S5 Cabrio. Build quality seems on a par with BMW, there's good and bad points, and the S5 sounds lovely and is pretty quick. Big problem for me has always been the dealers, we have had some quite frankly shocking service both on the sales and service side from no less than five dealers. Things is, her indoors loves the cars, so the dealers are a fact of life. Fingers crossed the dealer(s) you have to use are good

We have an A6 Allroad (biturbo) in addition to our 335d (and 350Z). They are all very different cars and I enjoy different aspects in all of them. The dealers have different styles too, but are all very helpful in my area.

Enjoy the new car when arrives, can understand you want to try something different and the 3.0tdi should be great engine. I spend a bit of time in Ireland and generally seem to see smaller engined cars assuming due to tax policy? Good to see you've gone for the 3.0 litre vs. many audis running s-line wheels with small engines.

Would be interested to know the deal too, think the new A4 looks good, but your right going from an E90 to an F30 there's a difference in look and feel, but going from an F30 to an F30 LCI it's hardly worth it and feels like you've never changed it.
Hope the Audi goes well. |

I find the materials used in the interior in the Audi to be nicer than the F30, however the driving dynamics are better in the BMW. I have had several Audis and found the servicing and reliability to be less than stellar. I can't see that improving with the current distractions at VAG.
Best of luck, I am sure it will be a lovely car, my friend loves his S4. B. |
