Help with 340i lease in bay area
Hi,
This is my first post here. Apologies if I missed following a rule. I am looking at leasing a 340i with msport, technology and lighting packages. A dealer gave me the following quote which I need help with: MSRP- $55,295 After dealer discount - $51,120 Down payment including 1st payment -$5000 Lease per month - $625 (includes tax) Lease term - 36months, 10k miles Is this a good deal? I see many posts here mentioning much lower down payments and monthly leases. What values should I be looking at? Thanks in advance for the help. Last edited by Sachinzeus; 12-27-2015 at 11:15 AM.. |

if the $625 includes tax and you eliminate the $5K cap cost reduction - then you have a good deal. otherwise, not so much.

Seems very high especially with the $5k cap cost red... Just got a 340i for much less, but my deal isn't a good comparison.. I had UDE, Corp Fleet and did 7 MSD's.
For Reference: MSRP: $50,585 62% Residual (10k/yr) MF: .00062
Sell Price: $43,970 (including incentives below) --Incentives: $3,250
Base Payment: $415.66 Total Payment w/ 7% Miami-Dade Tax: $444.76 Due at Signing: $892.92

Thanks for the detailed reply. I am not sure what the money factor is. I am new to leasing and still don't quite understand all the variables. I am going to talk to a few other dealers in the area today and will update this post. Thanks for helping |

Instead of "talking" with them, use the internet and get a full breakdown in writing of all charges, money factor, acquisition fee, etc., etc. You will drive yourself nuts trying to "remember" what any given person tells you. As far as the "money factor" goes, it's the interest rate they are charging - just multiply the money factor by 2,400 and you have it - e.g. .0013 money factor times 2400 equals a 3.12% interest rate

Based on the number you provided in the original post you should be paying about $535. The residual should be 62% of the Msrp after 3 years and 36 months with 10k per year. You should also be able to get a dealer to offer you a MF of .0013 as stated above. Keep in mind that your out the door amount of $5k isn't all cap reduction as about $2k of that amount is your first months payment, registration, license plates and admin fee. Check dealer #s against a lease calculator on bankrate.com.

I have a decent comparison for you. I am in California and have a 2014 335i M Sport, also with Tech and Lighting package. My lease is for 36 months and 10K miles with a $5K down payment:
MSRP (I'll get back to you on that one later today): $XX,XXX Car Value/selling price as negotiated: $46,550 Gross Capitalized Cost: $47,555 Residual Value: $32,877 Down Payment: $5,000 MSD: None Capitalized Cost Reduction: $3,790 Base monthly payment: 433 Total monthly payment (with tax): 467 Hope that helps. Based on online figures, I think I paid the average price at best but don't know for sure. Either way your numbers seem high as others have stated. Which dealership is this from? If you're close to San Francisco, try BMW of SF. I can give you the contact info for the sales rep who helped me with my 335is and my cousin's F10 M5.

Truecar is a good starting point, but always know that you can negotiate to a point. Fully loaded 2016 340i M Sport, MSRP $61k. I got it for $51k OTD.
