What prevents Album Art via BT on latest iDrive on smaller non-nav screen?
So my question is, latest iDrive with Non Nav Screen and enabling BT Audio Streaming you can then Stream BT Audio and see Album Art via USB Cable and iPod, but what is the limiting factor in seeing album art over bluetooth?

As far as I'm aware this is a limitation of iDrive. I believe the last revision of the AVRCP Bluetooth profile supports album art over Bluetooth, but whether or not your specific device is using this profile, whether iDrive also uses it, and whether the music app you are using supports serving album art over Bluetooth are all variables that impact making this work.
I can't definitively say whether or not it does, but I can tell you that on a Galaxy S6 and HTC M8, both using multiple versions of Andriod (4.4 to 5.1) I've never been able to get album art streaming to work over Bluetooth. Indeed, I've even had problems with the normal metadata updating correctly, and the track timer being off or not running depending on the app. I now have an iPhone 5S running iOS 8 dedicated to media in the car. It is connected via USB and then automatically tethers via wifi to my S6 when I start the car. This allows me full Connected Drive integration and LTE media streaming from Spotify without having to worry about actually using a shitty iPhone all day. |

The default 6.5 idrive (either HU_ENTRY or HU_ENTRYNAV) simply doesn't support album art over Bluetooth. I guess it's disabled on firmware level. (I've already tried to code / turn on the exact same parameters that you would need on NBT, but it still doesn't work)
You will need NBT for album art over Bluetooth. |

HU_ENTRY was the older iDrive (No Nav) HU_CHAMP2 was the business nav. HU_CIC was ProNav before the NBT ENTRY and CHAMP2 have been replaced by HU_ENTRYNAV, the difference is one has the FSC code to enable the NAV. |

Correct, you should get the HU_ENTRYNAV.
The HU_ENTRYNAV will look like the NBT (solid red bars): The older HU_ENTRY will look like the HU_CIC: So it'll be fairly easy to workout what you have. Last edited by kitster; 01-10-2016 at 04:04 PM.. |
