Dash Cams for 2er?

Anyone running dash cams on your 2er?

A friend's BMW was hit yesterday when parked and the guys drove off lucky he got it all on dash cam - offenders plates and face ect. My last car was ran into when parked and they did 1k damage no note left.

Thinking of buying this heard good things -
http://dashcamsaustralia.com.au/shop...e-dr650gw-2ch/

Any thoughts on it? Anyone using it or something else?

Thanks!

Got eh same cam in my 1'er. Good all round cam and parking mode works well. Can be had cheaper than that too! You just need to find a permanently powered fuse (even when locked) if you plan on using parking mode features.

I purchased the dash cam today, will wait for it to arrive.

Here is the video from my mates accident

The quality of this cam made me purchase it.

Will keep people updated on what happens. Just good to catch people like this.

This just made me want a dash cam even more now for me new F80. What about the smug look on the little prick as he walks away right at the end.

Very interested in this camera. Did you install it in the M235i? If so. How much drama is involved in the installation? How Is it secured and powered? And the rear view camera?
Thanks in advance.

Would you mind sharing where we can get this cheaper? What's everyone doing to stop battery drain for parking mode?

Have you tried eBay?

I recall they sell a kit that monitors the battery and switches off the camera when the battery is at a certain level... Called blackvue power magic

Hope the smart-arse gets what's coming to him...

There are also backup batteries which charge while you drive and keep power to the camera while parked, to save draining the starter battery.

http://www.blackvue.com/power-magic-battery-pack/

I've seen others like it but can't recall the name.

Yeah Cellink-B but at $300 in addition to the dash cam is a bit $$. I'm thinking maybe the power magic pro and setting parking timeout 2 or 6 hours after car turned off. Hopefully that's not going to be too much of a drain from the battery

I got my 650 kit for $450 off eBay (local seller in Melbourne) not sure if it was a special at the time. The kit came with a powermagic pro which you will need for parking recording.

Installation was fairly easy, just get a double fuse adaptor for the powermagic and find a Hot fuse (that stays powered when car is off and locked). I've set my powermagic to cut off at 11.8v (you can do 12v if your more worried) and the recording lasts for about 2-3 days but that's in not a very active area for motion detection. Never had a battery problem. Starts without a second thought after being away fora few days at a time, even if it has hit the voltage cutoff.

Installed the blackvue yesterday, took a while to hide all the cable in the trim. I think it actually looks pretty good and blends in with the cars interior. Also front and rear cameras are providing sweet quality video at the moment and so easy to grab the content on the app.

I read a post on this forum about the power magic pro. I may look at other options like the battery kit above as its running off the cigarette lighter currently.

We got a Thinkware F750 dual channel (both 1080) installed on the wife's family car.

Pic quality is good - also has traffic camera alerts (which I need to update) and a gimmicky lane departure warning.

Works with smartphone/tablet via wifi.

Picture quality on the Blackvue is very good also happy with other elements of the camera.

The only downside of the blackvue I have noticed is that the sticky section you place on the window already seems like it is going to come off after only been on the car for say 10 days. The top of the sticky looks like it is coming off.
Cleaned the inside window before use and everything as well!

Have some high quality double sided tape may have to use that instead of the stock sticky.

Blackvue with IR?

After a heap of research I'm about to order a Blackvue setup - the latest model is also available with IR tech for the rear camera in park mode. Has anybody had any experience with the IR or had any feedback from a user?

I currently have the Blackvue DR600GW-HD which is just the single front view camera. Am considering upgrading to the DR650GW-HD when my 2er arrives and was wondering how you went with running the cable for the rear camera, what trim did you run it under?

Get the power magic pro if you haven't already, allows you to use parking mode and no need to worry about flattening the battery as it turns off the camera if the battery voltage drops too low.
