KW Variant 3 Coilovers Now Avialable for F85 X5M & F86 X6M from Velos Designwerks |
Hey Members,
As with the E70 X5M the Suspension solution of choice was the KW Variant 3 and the F85 & F86 platform has proved to be no different. We have installed the first Variant 3 system in the world (according to KW) on an X5M and we are proud to announce the results are unbelievable. Yes you no longer have access to your EDC controls but the overall ride and comfort brings the X5M & X6M to new levels of performance making this a must for the true enthusiast. The Variant 3 upgrade results in a firmer ride and eliminates the “bounciness” you may experience with aftermarket springs. The kit includes a full adjustable coilover solution for the front axle and new shocks and adjustable links for the rear. The EDC deletion kit is also included. List price on the solution will be ~$3299 and we are currently offering introductory pricing with shipping directly from Germany to your door. PM, email, or call 7864016520 for more information as well as introductory pricing. Qty’s will be limited at first. Tech Support is also available for questions during install. You can never go wrong with K&W V3. Rides better than stock.

Does adding coil-overs such as these remove the stock adjustable settings Comfort/Sport/Sport+?
That is, you only have 1 setting the entire time which is set at the coil-over.

This is where I'm confused.
Will the ride quality be better from a comfort perspective when I'm rolling around in traffic and terrible roads, as well as nice and tight through the twisties on a weekend drive? If it's not adaptive, being a single setting, how does it handle the varying situations which one might come across? |

My personal opinion is that it is a big improvement in all aspects. From my experience the normal driving conditions are just as smooth if not smoother than factory assuming mid to mid aggressive settings, KW's come preset on what they consider a 'street plus' setup which will also be able to handle the twisties better than the factory setup would. This also has to do with the obvious lower ride heigh along with upgraded shocks in the front as well as rear. |
