It looks like ShinySteelRobots X1(US), have red blinker and not amber like the UK X1?

The US red rear lights looks much better I think.

I think the North American rear light look really sharp. The red turn indicators look better than the orange. It just happens that red is the trend right now but is seems to go back and forth between orange and red.
My salesman told me that the turn indicators were orange when they were red. He was so uninformed I couldn't believe it. After working with him for 10 days I finally called the sales manager that if he didn't take over the sale I would go elsewhere! He did take over and the rest of the sale went smoothly although I got a few things thrown in that he had missed in the price quote and he wasn't too happy in the end. Tough. For once the customer comes out ahead! There is hope for us all. Cheers

Yes, the tail lights are red on US models. Amber has actually been shown to be more visible. Possibly European regulations require amber?

Note the LED headlights in the US Premium Package are accompanied by LED tail lights, replacing the halogen.

I don't know that that is the case. I have led headlights and my rears have the led "l's" accent bars but the actually brake and turn signal are halogen bulbs.

First time I've realised the tail blinkers are red on the US model! It does look better.

It's funny that the US can have red rear blinkers but mandate an extra orange light/reflector at the front corners! Seems inconsistent to me.

Not 100% sure, but I think here's how it works in the US...

The idea is if you see an amber light blinking up ahead on the road then you know the vehicle is facing toward you. Even in dark/foggy/rainy/snowy conditions where you couldn't otherwise make out details about that car.

If you see a red blinker, you know that car head is facing away from you.

If you see an amber blinker AND a red blinker, that car is sideways relative to you, and you can tell which way it's pointed based on where the amber and red are located.

Not sure why the US government also mandates an orange reflector. Really don't like those. Perhaps it's a safety feature to protect us from folks who forget to turn on their lights at night?

That's disappointing. I thought maybe they were not based on some photos I saw, but read in the technical training docs the lights were LED when equipped with LED headlights. BMW must have decided to leave them off so they have one more thing to add for the LCI.
