Car deal for the wife?

After seeing the incredible deals some of the members have posted today I thought I'd see if anyone wanted to help me choose a car lease deal for my wife.

We are considering a Qashqai, which offer almost everything, well equipped, reliable, look good, but man they're underpowered, both the autos they offer have worse than 316d performance!

She doesn't do many miles so 8-10k is fine & we want something practical, preferably crossover sized with 5 doors/hatchback and auto, under £300pm and under £1k down.

Is there anything better than a Qashqai within those parameters?

Have you seen the new Renault Kadjar? Prefer the interior to Qashqai, I believe the rest of the components are very similar/shared!

They don't appear to do a petrol auto though.

Completely agree does she need that big a car though?

Currently no, but we will likely have a little person in the family in the near future so I'm assuming we'd need the space then, so we'd use it instead of the F30 when carrying all the paraphernalia!

I had a qashqai as a company car for a little while.

My wife loved it big time, preferred it to my F30 but her criteria are different to mine (she doesn't give a toss about engine or driving)

The cabin plastics did feel nice though and as you say, the spec is easy on he wallet for lots of toys.

I think the deals will never match the luxo-barges about as they are so popular and given their price point there must be less margin in them in the first place

Couple of years left in my wife's car at present but pretty certain this is what she will want when that time comes

I'm not saying the F30 isn't big enough, I have very little idea as I've never had a kid.

I know my sister and brothers in laws struggle with one baby in their Fiesta and A class, and although their boots are smaller than the F30 one they are a more practical shape.

Fiesta boot is tiny compared to an f30 !!

If it helps when far kid 1 was smaller I had a long wheel base Monterey for a weekend break. There still wasn't enough space !!!

You learn to scale down - normally survived in an Astra.

I'm kind of joking, the stuff fits easily but the chassis for the pram is a pain as its big and the boot opening is narrow so I bought my wife a practical car to use as well

Go to gateway2lease and look at their SUV deals that have dozens of them that are in your price range.

Nissan pulsar, it's the same size as the Qashqai as its the same platform so a fair bit bigger than the focus, Astra, golf etc we looked at.

We considered a Qashqai and all its rivals. All of them were less useable and had less space than the Octavia we ended up with, (except maybe the CRV - just didn't like it or the drive), but hey at least you sit higher up

As I said on my post about it the way the Far East do spec levels and engines is really irritating, most of them need the top spec for what we classed as essential options but with a tonne of stuff we didn't care about.

Then the fact that the Qashqai (and xtrail) have the most woeful engines and gearboxes known to man they were ruled out very quickly. But we did actually like them that aside.

We nearly went with a Mazda CX-5 both really liked it but again the spec and engine/gearbox meant top spec and with crap discounts compared to the Octy with less kit it would cost 5k more after discounts, and there was just no way it was worth it.

I bought the F31 because my E92 would not work with the lad. To be honest we find the 3er irritating as it doesn't swallow as much as we hoped and is shamed by the Octy which is now the car we always use as the family car as its better than mine at it. Never ceases to amaze what I can fit in it with a rather big pushchair too. Needed a flat boot floor too which makes the pushchair thing easier, not that many cars have it. Another bonus was that with the Octy that's swallowed everything we throw at it, has been when the boot floor is in the flat level position but it drops lower to allow even more to fit in. F31 has underfloor storage it's just not as versatile. £250pm too

The Qashqai models have just changed, n-tec has gone & there are now a range of packages you can add to the Acenta, so for £620 down & £207pm we could get a 1.2 petrol auto with loads of equipment including touchscreen nav, DAB, reverse camera, speed limit display, lane departure warning, high beam assist, auto lights & wipers, parking sensors, bluetooth, USB, dual zone climate, collision braking, split fold rear seats, adjustable lumbar support etc.

All it's missing from the very top model is 19's, tints, surround view & heated windscreen.

Ha, can you tell that to my wife please, I always thought the older the child gets the less luggage required. Apparently not it seems

For that money, Qashqai is very hard to beat. All that kit for £207/mth is decent, and the new car is step up in interior quality.
Id only say that you are missing the 19" wheels. You could easily forgo the other items you mention.

We've got a Qashqai (older shape, 360 model) we leased it from G2L for 24months at £208 inc. That was the best we could get in our budget at the time.
We then bought it as we couldnt find anything else we liked for the same money they offered it to us for. As a car for 2 kids under 3 to destroy, its perfect and its been so cheap to run.
Would I personally use it everyday? Probably not.

We will probably change it at the end of 2016, and my preference is a Volvo XC60, or wait for the new Tiguan.
Or if the prices are still the same, then more likely another Qashqai.

We're not bothered about the 19's on it, she wants the SUV comfort of not worrying about kerbs etc so the 17's are fine.

It's just the power i'm a bit worried about, 12.5secs 0-60 sounds like a long time!! The DCi130 engine is a couple of secs quicker but an extra £70pm, and in her current Corsa diesel she keeps getting the full DPF warning due to doing so many short journeys!
