Phone in the wash - will it work!?

Found out after about half an hour of the wash being on at 40 degrees that my immaculate Samsung Galaxy S6 was in there. Immediately put in a bowl of rice to dry out over next couple of days. Do I have any chance???

Will be gutted if not as not insured

If you have an airing cupboard then put the bowl of rice in there as well.

Don't try using it, if water is shorting out the circuitry then you'll fry it - if it hasn't already, hopefully your battery was drained enough. Dry it out for a couple of days in the airing cupboard first. You might get away just with a new battery.

Not a chance.

It'll be covered under your home insurance - just depends on the excess.

Yeah I'm not hopeful. Not tried to turn on as suggested above, also the S6 is sealed so can't remove the battery.

Most likely will go the home insurance route - however I bought the phone on eBay second hand so don't know if that changes anything.....

Oh no, that's one way to clean your browsing history!

As others have said airing cupboard and rice/silica pads.

Good luck!

I'm sure you'll be able to open it with a tool and a hair dryer - there'll be a guide on YouTube I'm sure. The only thing that will kill it is it shorting out so the trick is to get it dry. The wife's HTC m9 had a dunk in the bath, we stood that verticle on a radiator for a couple of days and it's fine.

Don't turn it on.

You could save it.

Look on YouTube for how to recover a water damaged phone.

If you leave it in a bowl of rice, asians will come at night and fix it.

But seriously, should of got a Xperia instead, it's completely waterproof. I accidently left mine in my pant pocket as well, and it came out fine. Smelled awesome.

The Mrs has the Xperia Z5, it's a nice phone and the water / dust resistance is useful, but apart from that the S6 is a better phone in pretty much every way which is why I chose it. Also I'm not sure it's totally water proof but instead water resistant, ie probably fine for a few seconds submerged in water but not half an hour in washing machine! Doubt any phone would be able to go through that no problem!

It's actually waterproof! They showed it in some electronic convention, submerged it into a jar of water for 15 mins.

Very tempted to try it already but all the guidance I've seen is leave it for at least 3 days, longer if possible to give it best chance of working....

My wife dropped her phone in a puddle on holiday, one of the kitchen staff vacuum packed it in rice! 3 days later it was working! Bloody miracle!!
