Led torches
Hi who makes the best torches these days - I was going to buy a Maglite ml300l?

Yes you missed the boat with the daily deals from Amazon on heavily reduced LED Lenser torches. Plenty of people on here bought torches they didn't even know they needed lol.

Amazon lighting sale on now for a few days so I imagine there will be some model of LED Lenser most days as these seem to pop up often.

I hope you bought the "LED LENSER 37 Tactical Professional Holster" to go with your new purchase.........
I don't think they could have made that sound more manly |

This is well worth getting as well.
I bought one the other day in a lightening deal - £15 Comes with spares kit as well, you do need to buy batteries though. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ilpage_o02_s00 Very bright and long throw. |

I can't believe my first post on here is about torches! Maglite and Led Lenser are not considered by many to be the BMW of the torch world.
Check out torches by Fenix, Nitecore, Zebralight, Eagletac to name but a few. A bit more expensive but tremendous power and you'll get the light output they promise. |

If BMW made torches, they would cost £50 for the torch, £60 for the bulb, and £90 for the batteries that you can get elsewhere for £5. Also, never seen (no pun intended) anyone brained by a Zebralight, whereas a foot long maglite, has some welly behind it Seriously though, some of the 'posh' torches just have bogo stuff inside them and you pay for a lot of name or fucking stupid markup by online companies flogging them. |

Those aren't posh torches. Those are Chinese designed and built torches. I'd also not call them
overpriced. You want overpriced? Try Surefire. However that's personal taste. Yes a Maglite will knock you out but they aren't used by military or law enforcement anymore that I know of and are outperformed by many of the other brands. If you're serious about torches you need lithium cells: 18650 or 26650. Those cells like to go on fire if you don't look after them. The £15 torch might seem like a bargain but time will tell I guess. There are bargains out there. Check out http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...ED-Flashlights they are a good and knowledgable bunch of people. |

A lot of torches fail drop test and immersion test. A lot of those sold as high power also have rather flimsy or crap innards that prove susceptible to knocks, sand etc. |
