I did this same mod and everything works fine. I have a 2TB hard drive in my glove box now where I play music and movies from.
Do you have the phone cradle option with the cradle in the center arm rest?

What are you trying to connect to your new port and does it just never get recognized? Or does it sync, then unsync etc? tbooe, btw, my HDD is just not reliable. I think I'll eventually need to go with the drive you used or go with an SSD. This is the one I pulled out of a laptop. More often than not, I have to manually disconnect/reconnect for it to come up. I really think there are current limitations on the port. I notice that if for whatever reason my ipod Classic has less than full battery, it freaks out both USB ports. |

Are you sure the USB cable is properly connected regarding the pinouts?
As you have Entrynav and this HU has different connectors compared to NBT (which is shown in your linked thread) it could be possible that you have to connect your USB cable rotated by 180 degrees! By the way: This USB socket you can disassable and then rotate the white part by 180 degrees - this is the easiest way. Last edited by TePee; 01-21-2016 at 01:43 PM.. |

I did this retrofit few weeks ago. I have NBT professional and these are the parts I bought for my F30.
USB port : 84109229294 Cable : 6111925854 It's plug and play for me. I did not have to do any coding. |

When you plugged any device in the glovebox usb, it seem to me it overrides the one in the arm rest. Is this true?

That being said, I am able to plug devices into both USB ports and they both show up on my iDrive screen. I am able to choose which USB device I want to play media from.

You guys did this retrofit with NBT. But Palumbo has Entrynav, the USB plugs of this HU are 180 degrees rotated compared to NBT. And I think this us the problem in this case!

Wow! How did you know that? I was trying to find a pic of the rear of the head unit of Entrynav to compare to NBT but could not find anything. I am just curious.

Here is a pic comparing the rear of both HUs (it is NBT Evo, but the direction of the plugs is the same as for NBT). |

WTH? I thought the point of the super complicated, expensive and hard to find Fakra connectors was to provide keying and coding so things like "rotate the cable" wouldn't be needed. That's bizarre.

But in this cases you use different colored plugs & connectors, thus the coding is different...

You have to rotate at one end, either at the HU or at the USB socket.
I would do it at the USB socket als it is easier. You can disassamble it an then rotate the white part of it - as I wrote quite at the beginning here. Last edited by TePee; 01-23-2016 at 04:02 AM.. |
