I already did it, if you want a COMPLETE retrofit you need:
New headlights, bumper grills and hood New sideskirts (not necessary but will finish the look) New side mirrors (not necessary and ugly as sin) New trunk + inner and outer brake lights To get the lights and brake lights working you need a minimum of FRM2, but to get them working like OEM with bulb checks you need either FRM2 c.09 (was installed in the very very first LCI cars) or FRM3 module |

can you upgrade from FRM1 to FRM2 or FRM3? my 07 e91, 11/06 build date, has FRM1

Ok first FRM is the footwell module that is responsible for all the lights in your car, second you cannot really UPDATE it you need to replace it with the newer one and yes even FRM3 works on the earlier models, just takes coding.
I gotta say in Bulgaria the whole conversion was quite cheap - my car had the newer climate controls and the last CCC module with the shortcut buttons (not upgrading to CIC yet), so I just took my time and did the conversion in steps. First I replaces the whole back-end cause the LCI looks soo badass, then the headlights, and finally hood bumper and the skirts (took me almost 6 months to find a LCI hood in good condition in black). Total cost is around 1200 euro which includes the front PDC (my car came originally only with back PDC) |
