nitto nt01 semi slick 275 tyres fitted. review.

Planning on going to the drags next Sunday with a couple of friends so decided it was time to upgrade my worn out toyo r1r's. Ended up getting the nt01 275/35/18 tyres fitted despite st george tyres warning me they might rub. There is no rub and quite a bit of clearance left. Car has stock 335i suspension and around the 300rwkw mark.

The drive:

These tyres are very grippy even when cold. Mashing the pedal from a standstill they don't squeak/squeal, the car just goes. Brake boosting at 1500 rpm the car really launches forward pushing you back pretty aggressively. With some heat in the tyres i reckon a grippy 2.5k launch is in 1st gear at the track is possible.

I've been running these for months now on my 135i

They are unbelievable

Be prepared for some low 60 foot times 1.8s is very easy

Drop the tyre pressure to around 30 when hot

Do a little burnout nothing aggressive and high 11's aren't a problem

Just log your runs and be prepared for some custom flashing to make your gearbox last.

These tyres can be brutal to your gearbox.

Thanks for the info Marty. I was wondering what psi to put the tyres on. There is so much grip that during a burnout the car bogs down haha. Need that water patch.

tt

Best time was 12.07 with a 1.8 60ft at 28 degrees. very 1st run. The rest of the runs consisted of very low 12s as the track becomes too slippery off the line.

no burnout. just a 2k brake boost launch for the 1.8 60ft.

I was looking around for your 1M 😃. I've probably run 12.0 4 times I just want to see a 11 haha.

Marty does traction become worse after the 1st run for you aswell?

As the is more rubber and water after the first run on
the track and your tires cool down between runs, you
have to do a little burnout to get the heat back into
them to make them hookup

In winter time you have to do longer burnouts

Have you got lsd as this will help immensely ?

no lsd. tried to do a burnout. Then the car bogged down. My friend said only 1 wheel was spinning no smoke.

yeah it gets alot of attention. And upsets those new Amg's and evo's...

Good time mate - hopefully you'll crack the 11s in cooler weather. If I get out of work on time tomorrow might also head to the tracks for a run (im in melbourne). My car is running similar power to yours (290rwkw) but I don't have semi slicks (running std 265 kumhos)
