PP 82DSP or BavSound Stage One

Hey guys
completely new to BMW after purchasing my 2013 335 last week
Love the car but the audio sound is disappointing and muddled especially since my old TL SHAWD had an amazing Bose Premium Audio system.
The lack of HK was the ONLY thing the car didnt have so I figured I would live with it. I can't.

I have read multiple threads on BavSound Stage one speakers and the PP 82DSP for my HiFi (676) and need to get feedback on which one to get.

In an ideal world I could do both but with the recent purchase of the car the wife would NOT take kindly to me dropping another $1400 on "audio enhancements"

That said can you guys recommend one over the other.
Should I go PP 82DSP with OEM speakers or get BavSound and keep the OEM amp.

My listening profile leans more toward clarity and crispness than overall power and loudness hence I am leaning towards the speakers but if the amp can make the woefully designed OEM speakers sound good then maybe that is the choice.

I have read thru a bunch of threads but I am curious for pros and cons Especially from those who have a mix of the OEM and the upgraded aftermarket part.

Thanks in advance

If I had the choice I'd go for the PP 82 DSP.

In my former car I did DSP amp als well as better speakers and the DSP had the biggest impact.

Somewhere here in the forum I've read a thread where someone did several upgrades and stated the same.

Kaigoss, do you have the quart 3 way set in your car? I've often wondered about these. I was just looking to upgrade the oem under seat subs as I have already installed a JL amp to bump up the power to them and since this set comes with front speakers they seem like a gray value at only $300 for the set on eBay. I remember way back in the late 90s early 2000 when mb quart was one of the best brands for car audio.

amp...then speakers. Keep an eye out in the forum classifieds...there have been a few people who have sold their cars - selling their BavSound speakers.

Definitely the pp82dsp first and then the speakers if you're not happy. I was happy with just the amp and my previous 335i had the logic 7. It was almost as good if not equally. I planned on doing speaker upgrades down the road but ended up selling my car. That said I have a pp82dsp for sale if you're interested.

No but I've seen a couple of positive reviews and I know that a DSP can make good speakers sound great. Seems like a nobrainer for under $300.

PP82DSP. No brainier. Such an easy install. See my thread for a review.

Go with the amp. Adding power is more important than speakers.

Great thread and very helpful. Did you ever videotape the final sound quality once the amp was installed. just curious thanks

I didn't videotape it. TBH, I don't think a recording would do justice to speak to the level of improvement. It's more of an experience, if that makes sense?

Its not just an amp. The DSP features are what really does it. I have a standalone Helix DSP and once you tune it right, it transforms the sound.

Later you could also invest in inexpensive mids like the Vifa NE123, or Scan Speak 10F. For tweeters I believe many of the Morel Car Tweeters are drop in replacement in the stock locations. I would imagine any of these drivers would be a step up form Bavsound.

Bavsound is a good budget speaker. They definitely do not compare to higher quality speakers like focal morel etc.

Go with the Bimmertech amp first. It's a no brainer

Definitely the amp first. Stock speakers are actually ok but the amp is very weak. Bimmertech amp brings a very significant improvement to the overall sound quality.
