Tuning Box or Remap Help please ?

Hi All,

Picking up my new 08 Alpine White 318d M sport on Saturday, Ditching my x-type to go back to a BMW although gotta drive to Reading from Birmingham to avoid a delay in getting it.

Anyway I know nothing about engines, chipping or anything like that but was wondering whether to get a tuning box or remap. Ideally i may need to revert back as its sort of a company car.

Will it increase fuel effiiciency as well as performance ?

Yes annecdotally there are significant benefits to consumption...

However you'll find you'll eat into this when OFF the motorway as you'll be enjoying planting your right foot too much !!

Good choice on colour and car by the way ! We want PICS !

I don't think you have a choice, as its a new car the ECU will be encypted so its a tuning box for you (guys, chip in if I'm wrong about the 318D).

Yes, it should improve both and the advantage with a box is that you can remove it at any time if you need to.

Well Chuffed !

I decided 3 years ago to go for an X-type from a 320d, as soon as i pulled off it today and ditched the Jag I was wondering why i ever left BMW in the first place. Its good to be back ! Cheers for the remap/tuner advice, I asked the guy at the garage and he said it would wreck your warranty but is never checked. So tuner box seems the way forward but i will let the engine settle it properly first, me thinks.
