Has anyone ever had the diamon fusion, or similar NOT RAIN-X, coating installed on their front windshield?

Never heard of it, personally. I am totally skeptical of this type of thing. Reminds me of the miracle "paint protectant" many dealers try to promote. Just a source of Additional Dealer Profit. $495 to the dealer and it probably costs them less than $50.

A quick google turned up this less than stellar customer review of Diamon Fusion: http://www.dalehenninger.com/archives/3

Thats interesting. Does anyone know of a product that would help protect against the sandblasting affect that the windshield has after a few months of driving?

Diamon fusion was developed for glass shower enclosures to minimize hard water stains.

I just kinda wipe Rain-X paste on my front windshield every 6 months....works well enough for me. During most rain storms, I don't even need to turn my wipers on.

I know the question was about "not Rain-X", but why the aversion to the product? It works well enough for the price point it's offered at. Sorry if my question is pushing some sort of button, for once I don't mean to be a troll.
