Brakes Replaced under Scheduled maintenance

Has Anyone Had there Brakes replaced under scheduled maintenance? If so did they change the pads and rotors? Or did they Cut the rotors and change just the Pads. I would hope they change the fluid as well. I'm curious Because I had Brembos on my last car and from experience cutting the rotors is not the way to go. New Pads and rotors are key if you want the car to stop the same or better.

They will replace the pads and replace the rotors if the rotor is below spec, else they will leave the rotor as is

They will not replace fluid unless it's due for it

Good question, ask the Service Advisor and let us know if this is an option.

I'll shoot an email to my sales rep. He's an enthusiast and we had a good relationship.

So apparently my SA himself tried top do this with his 335 and didn't have any luck. He said that BMW replaces a core part with a core part for the maintenance. He also said it was still worth a giving it a shot.

I guess when the time comes I will ask very nicely.

Why would you want to do that?
They are not drilled, just for show...
But if you like it, go for it.

Yeah it would be just for show. They look badass. And also they are dimpled which would allow any offgassing from pads a place to go. I know off gassing isn't as big of a deal with new pad compounds.

If you could get sweet looking rotors and only pay a small amount why wouldn't you?

Do you have any idea how many miles/kms it takes for it to go under spec?

Will a few track days result in needing a replacement?

Probably around 40k miles + 10-15 track days

Depends a lot how you drive too. But that's my guesstimate

Wish you the best of luck on getting the brakes covered under warranty.
Your vehicle will half to have a serious problem and low mileage for the brakes to be covered under warranty.
Brakes are a wearable item.

just because its covered doesn't mean they will do anything about it.

its like the oil change... Free, when they want to do it every 10,000 miles.

You thought you could just drive up and get new brakes?

I got 9.2k miles out of my front pads and rotors, 13k miles out of my rear pads.

BMW's 4 year/50k mile service period includes brakes on my 2014, so the dealer replaced them for free.

The miles included maybe 6-8 track days (3-4 weekends) and 8-10 autocrosses.

You could very well have different warranty than us here In Canada. I personally have never seen brake pads and rotors be warrantied unless something very abnormal or a serious problem with them.

Not saying it isn't possible on your end, was just my thoughts that's all.

Thanks, rwalker. Good to know. Trying to figure out which servicing package to get.

Down here we have to pay for the service package unless they have a promotion going on. 1.5k AUD for the standard oil/filter package and an extra 2k AUD for these additional maintenance items:
  • Brake pads front & rear
  • Brake discs front & rear
  • Clutch (worn)
  • Windscreen wiper blades*

2k AUD for how many years/miles?

If you track it, I think that sounds like a really good deal.
