Just got a check engine light
Hey guys,
Back with a new problem, what else is new. I just got a engine light, I had pep boys scan it for me and they came back with the p12a5 code. Does anybody have an idea what this is about? I will be taking it in to BMW, but wanted to see if anybody has an idea of what it is. Thanks guys

Yeah I saw that, but really have no clue what it means. Seems like a boost issue? I also saw something about a wiring harness being defective? Not sure what wiring harnesses and intake manifolds have to do with each other.

never know when to believe those lights. They flash on every now and then and don't reappear for a few hundred kms. Sometimes re-starting car clears it......random

I had a check engine light come on because I didn't clear snow from the exhaust prior to starting and it tripped a pressure fault. I wouldn't get too excited about the CEL. My understanding is they usually are innocuous and reset themselves within a day. But if it really bothers you, take it in.

CEL indicates an emission measurement was out of spec. Usually a small issue, but not 100% of the time. If there's something wrong that would cause damage to the motor a red light would come on. Many times CEL will clear itself after 5 - 6 driving cycles.

I've got the CEL on now and the dealer said it was the thermostat. The part is on national back order so I have to take the car back to complete the fix when it comes in.

Same here, our previous 2013 F30 had the faulty thermostat which was not routing the coolant correctly.
