I recently leased an X5 (first time) for my mom through BMW FS, do I get the annual personal property tax bill from FFX county or does BMW get it/pay it and then bill me (Lease is registered under my name)?

BMW will pay the taxes and your payment will be sky high for that month. You'll see the huge payment deducted, say WTF, and then remember it's tax time.

I am under the impression I will get billed in October for next year? Which is why I am wondering if I will receive the bill for this year?

Or do I have this wrong?

Pretty certain a bill will come in in October for however long you had the vehicle for the current year.

One thing to note here, this only happens if you have auto-draft setup to pay the balance and not just the lease payment.

When you setup auto-draft for a lease through BMW FS, you get the option of a) just paying your lease payment or b) paying whatever the balance is. If you went with option A then you need to login and pay the balance carried over from the property taxes yourself.

Yes, all counties in Virginia do this.

Maryland has higher income taxes, Va gets their money in other ways (like through the car tax each year).

Yup! I budgeted $3k for it for the first year. I'm thinking based on others' comments it will be between $2,600-2,800, so it was easier for me to just overestimate with $3k.

But in all seriousness, VA taxes on everything. Income, real estate property, car property, sales tax (6%, 4% for car)....they is no tax break on anything!
Man if I move out, they'll just be taxing me on something else. They'll always find ways to fuck you over dry.

Look! That guy has a glorious beard! Tax that shit out of him!
