Major and/or minor differences in 2013 & 2014 335i?

I'm looking to purchase my first BMW and I'm looking at the 335i with automatic transmission. I do know that I want it optioned with M Sport and Harmon & Kardon sound upgrade. I am still looking for more information and research on the other options and packages.

My question is, are there any major and/or minor differences between the 2013 and the 2014. The only one I have come across is that the late manufacture 2013 has an upgraded navigation system? I'm not sure how accurate that is.

Any information would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!!

The NBT iDrive Navigation system from 2014- is a huge difference from the previous system. The easiest way to tell if a car has a new system is to look for the larger iDrive controller with the touchpad on top (which is awesome btw).

Awesome, thanks!!

MotorTrend has really the only "Con" as a rough Start/Stop feature. Do you know how rough it actually is?

The 2013 is noticeably rough. But there is a software update. If under warranty you can take to the dealer with the complaint that it's too rough or that you want the car to remember start/stop setting when you choose to turn it off.

If you can swing the 2014, get the 2014. It is also easier to make more power if you are into that.

It isn't just software. There were other changes like oil pan when my '13 335 got that auto/start stop roughness fix

I agree the NBT nav is nice to have.

Thank you!

Any of the options/packages you would recommend to get for sure?

The start/stop feature really just sucks--most people end up not using it. I wouldn't factor that in as what year to get. But the NBT is better and does give more coding options if you are in to that. I wish I had that. As others said in your other post, options are personal preference. I was actually having this discussion two days ago with a friend of mine who is a MB salesperson. He said, the reality is, is that what it comes down to is the price difference between a car with many options and one without. The way he put it is: if you go out to a nice dinner once a month that is the difference in monthly cost. Think about how much time you spend in your car and do things like the cameras, NAV and premium package give you more value in a months time than skipping a nice dinner in a month. It's all about your budget and what you perceive as value.

Mine isn't rough at all. That's cause it's off ALL the time. Ridiculous feature to comply with tighter fuel efficiency regulations.

Keep in mind if you get driver assistance package, you won't get Blind spot monitor and surround camera anymore in 2014 unless you get Driver assist 2 package. In 2013 it was included

That's what I have...I find it very useful--the blind spot monitor. Many of these things were not in cars a few years ago, but when you have them they really do make a difference. No substitute for basic driving techniques but adds more levels of safety.

If tuning is a consideration, you should try to avoid the 2013 with the pneumatic wastegate.

I drive in Sport Mode 99% of the time so ASS isn't a factor.
