335i problems with JB4?

I have a jb4 piggyback on my car with FBO (catless dps, fmic, etc) and whenever pulling through the gears in map 5 the car goes into limp mode around 5-6k rpm and the dealership looked at it and said they needed to replace the intake air temperature/pressure sensor, is this sensor going out a common issue with the jb4?

A lot of things can become a common issue when you install a JB4.

Check the boost safety settings in the JB4 tuner program
Default is 8 psi
If you dont increase it, the JB4 will hit the over boost safety and shut you down

Thread is a bit misleading in my opinion, the problems is with your car not the JB4

Post your codes and a datalog for best help

The default boost safety setting is 18 psi, not 8 psi.

I had the same problem with my 335. Mine didn't give me any codes though, but these are some common problems...

- Bad Coil(s)
- Bad Plug(s)
- Leaking Vacuum Lines
- CPS Sensors
- Vanos Solenoids
- Leaking Waste Gates
- Faulty HPFP
- Faulty Injector
- Carbon Build Up (on intake valves)
- Valve Cover / Valve Cover Gasket

See if you are lucky enough to get a code, if not start to check some of the above items. Probably a combination of small problems. I just replaced a lot on my 335 and the problem seems to have disappeared. Good Luck!

hey check out my post

i have the exact same --- except its stuck in engine low power mode

we checked the car

it read the IAT was -40c or something obviously broken

I think the IAT is measured on the N55 on the TMAP sensor on the chargepipe --- and the JB4 mates to this sensor.

coincidence?

getting these problems makes me want to take my JB4 off and go stock

So I opened up the fuse box and checked out the jb4 and all I smelled was burnt silicon/plastic, I returned the car back to stock since I'm 99% sure the board burned out, I'm going to be buying a procede from a friend and try that out instead, also ordered new plugs and coils

So the car threw a code for a cylinder 3 misfire, so I'm just going to replace all the coils and plugs, the dealer got a 30ff code however I can't get that code on my scanner but it does sound like there is a boost leak so I'll have to have it smoke tested soon

I strongly recommend against getting a product that is discontinued (Procede)
