what to change out before it breaks

Hi

What are some of the preventative maintenance i should be doing as the mileage increases.

Right now my car only has 50,000 km.

What parts should be changed out and at what mileage interval.

Time to change the car.
In relation to BMW it's the wisest decision to make.

There's a section in your owner's manual that will answer your question.

If you are asking about doing preventative maintenance beyond BMW's recommendations, then I would say that, for the N52 engine, I think the manual covers it all.

There are some common part failures, such as water pumps and gaskets. But you asked about preventative maintenance items, not common failures. Unless you are wanting to change out parts before they break, which most people don't do because it's rather expensive, and there's no guarantee when or if they will in fact fail.

This is not something that the forum can answer. Best bet is to consult a psychic or one of those people who can guess your name and weight.

He's talking about KILOMETERS here, which puts him at like only 31k miles.

Man. You are not too intelligent. You don't need a crystal ball, we can base it on everyone's mileage and input. For example, if the water pump goes 80% for the time once it hits about 90K, then I would change out ahead of time.

Little fails on a 328 before 90K miles, except for the water pump and thermostat which only fail on 30% of cars in the 60K-80K mileage interval.

On a 2011 car you might think about changing battery...6 years has been useful life of batteries for most cars for decades (before power hungry accessories and computer modules to monitor everything), and the power hungry E-90 has had batteries fail at 4-5 years, but then some have gone 7 years and more, too!

You will need new plugs at 60K miles in the 328, according to the tightened BMW recommendations after 2010 (335 revised down to 45K plug interval, too).

Man, there is no preventive maintenance except oil change, coolant flush, spark plugs and fuel filters.

All the rest is just "bmw breaks". You won't replace any parts in your bmw until they break (like water pump, thermostat, fuel pump, etc) , right ?

What is the sense in your question then ?
your water pump will die, your transmission will die (no matter how often you change the fluid) , your power steering pump will die. Every part has it's own lifetime in miles. And most of those < 100.000 mls

Although I am vendor , I am not a big fan of changing parts if they are still performing well.

Your tires should need replacing soon.....I would change plugs real soon too as they will be pretty worn at 60k I found.
But not much is needed till around 90-100k...at that point stuff like shocks/suspension parts will start to wear out.
But you have a ways yet to go'
