RANT: The new style of the LCI "halos"
I just have to say it out loud now cause Iīve had it up to here; FAIL!!!!!!!
"What is that Droopy-looking car coming at me?" is what I say to myself every f*cking time when itīs bright outside and I spot this familiar yet non-BMW looking car. What have they done?! Seriously now, am I the only one?? The aggressiveness of the real halos is totally gone and weīre left with this sad looking face that has lost everything that used to scream BMW even a light year away!! Why the horizontal lines, why the hell make them so long or even having them continue towards the middle, why AT ALL have them?? And donīt let me get started with the 2x2 LED projectors, spotting it or the bigger sibling in the rear view Iīm thinking to myself "aha, a Passat.. or could it be a Merc?"... but no, itīs a Bimmer. As for the rears, yes, very Daimlerish but at least it doesnīt ruin the rear end. Have a great thursday

You are not alone. For the first time ever I think the pre-LCI looks a lot better than the LCI. Cannot understand why people want the LED's. The Xenon look way better.
And I also think the rear brake lights look better on the pre-LCI, they look more like a 5-series. The LCI rear looks like the 1-series. And the other exterior mods is not easy to spot if you're not a BMW fan |

Not a fan either. Unfortunately that's the direction they're going.

Design wise, I totally disagree. And this thread is all about the design.

The styling isn't too bad but I'm disappointed on how the LCI angel eyes light up. Looks like they only have 1 LED per (_) which, in my opinion, degrades the look of the headlights. It makes the top portion washed out.
The 4 Series LED headlights use 2 LEDs per (_) which make it look more refined.

I can understand preferring the pre LCI but to rant over this is kind of wacky IMO.
I like them

Other than the headlight the rest of the car looks practically the same so if seeing a LCI car even when it's "bright outside" leads you to mistake it for a "non-BMW looking car", then the only conclusion I can make is that one of those ricer aftermarket halo headlights for Honda Civics must fool more people than I originally thought.

+1 for pre-LCI, I didn't like the LCI look at all, front and back, and it's most definitely not growing on me, but yeah, to each his own.
For the E90 though, I thought LCI was a big improvement in terms of how it looks. |
