I've heard this on other n54s even after new turbos etc, I Aswell have brand new Vargas turbos that do not rattle accel or decel or revs. Just this farting noise when the Rpms are like below 1k. I have a hks exhaust and ar downpipe, also if beside the car when it makes that sound you hear a metallic rattle from by the left rear wheel or behind it. I guess same noise just hearing it in different spots

I have the same exact sound. I had new OEM turbos installed (warranty) 12K miles ago, I now have 57K on the clock; I also have a catback exhaust.

I took the car to BMW for their inspection of the sound. They said it was "normal turbo charger noises".

I tend to believe it, and wonder if the factory exhaust flap was developed, in part, to hide this noise.

Yeah I don't have any rattle on accel or decel, I get that noise but I assume it's normal exhaust tone or whatever, a lot of people have it.

I also have that deceleration sound and the low end farting and I'm running a full HKS setup with catless as well
