You don't have to tell me! A deer almost took me out last weekend. Pretty scary stuff.

So I'm just about to hit 300,000 miles. Scared to death for the last week or so Bambi is going to get me before I reach the mark. Just Monday I almost collected a bear. Last night a dusk, 8 PM I look down at my odometer, 299,921... Get eyes back on the road... Thinking were on Monday I'll hit 300K so I can pull over and take the pic... Clear road ahead (I'm always scanning for animals), and BAM! I was WFT!!!! looked in my side mirror... nothing. Look in the rear view mirror... nothing. I was what in F just hit the car? Pulled over. Deer snot on the passenger door, you can see it in the pics. Then I saw where it caught the fender at the tail light. I drove back on the road twice looking for the M'fer but didn't see her. She must have been coming over from the median.

Never saw her at all. Dusk is the worst time, they just blend in. Now the question is is it will probably total the car. My insurance agent is cool, he owns a E90 M3 . I'll chat him up on Monday. I'm thinking paintless dent repair to get it back close enough so it is not embarrassing to drive. I carry $100 deductible for comprehensive. This car doesn't like animals (or the other way around I guess). 3rd deer strike, and my Beagle bit up the fenders and bumper cover - long story...

I hope it works out too. I just put $4K into it since August '15 and a bunch labor time along with that cash. Clutch & flywheel, pan gasket, brakes, tires, sensors, etc.

Sounds like you're going for 400,000?

That's for sure but it's a tempting car for the price - if it exists...

So it turns out we have a Dent Masters franchise locally, and the lead Tech is really good. Writes in the paintless dent repair Trade rags, evaluates new tools, etc. Just talked to him. He doesn't see an issue. I told him "close enough" is good for me. I'm going to see him Thursday. Insurance will cover it. Fingers crossed.

I've seen more deer/deer accidents in the past two months since moving to Maryland than I did in 29 years living in MAINE...

I saw a deer run straight into the side of a car like that a few years ago. Big open field to my right, everyone traveling my direction saw it coming and slowed down, oncoming traffic did not.

Deer bolts across the street, hit this guy right in his drivers side rear view mirror. Blew out the windows and smashed the side of his car all up.

So glad I live in Los Angeles. We don't have to worry about random flying deer, just bullets.

Can't wait to see the outcome of the repairs.
