First fill of Diesel

Hi all, done 356 miles so far filled the car with diesel........................
.......... 37 MPG that's mostly out of town driving, which is crap IMO.
I hope this improves as I have not been driving hard at all.

Yep the 35d isn't that economical in my experience but you have to balance that against the power on offer.

It'll get better than that I'm sure. I know it's a 335 but my 330 was averaging around 40-42 with all types of driving and traffic etc and not worrying about mpg. If wanting to get good mpg and doing a run would be mid 50's. I'm sure it'll be fine when run in

To be honest, it'll probably improve. Just bear with it.

Quelle surprise! I agree high 30's is a bit disappointing but given experience with my F31 I reckon that's where they're at as an overall average; perhaps your 435d will improve a bit with mileage (although my 335d hasn't) but welcome to the club John....

I ve done 1200 miles now and reset it while I was on motorway.
Engine warmed up. Steady 80mph.
It started showing 50mpg.
Then I came into town.
Bit of a blast with a cookin mercy Benz and it's back down to about 35.
You can get good mpg. If u drive it like its a 318d.
Only problem is any little gap and you just gotta................

Really? I think that's good, only 1mpg less than my 330d sdrive averaged! On a long run you should get high 40's taking it fairly easy.

My first tank managed just under 400 miles, that included a fair few motorway miles, I'm hoping for better, the car is currently showing 38 mpg with just under 1k on the clock and running on Shell V Power.

However, my previous car was a 2.2d 4wd and that was averaging 31 mpg (performance was nowhere near as good as the 335d though), so the 335d is an improvement on that, but I am still hoping for better.

Your 335d will stabilise in the high 30's. If you do a lot of motorway, it will get over 40.

I am out of town so it should improve no stop start for me.
It feels tight though, needs a good thrash I think.

I think it should improve, it's not so much worrying about the MPG it's not much better at the moment than the M3.............

When I had a 330d xdrive I struggled to get 40mpg even trying hard. Average was usually 35-37. Swapped it for a 335i and things have definitely improved - 30mpg but much bigger smile on face!

Get away!
The M3 is never going to return 37mpg. Probably 10mpg less than that ...... at best I would have thought?

Hang in there John and give it a chance. Forget about the mpg and enjoy it for a few weeks then check it again. You will get well over 40mpg on a run once its got a few miles on it.
