They found it...
Rough idle, funny acceleration...so here it goes. Took the car into the dealership explained what was happening. Warranty is about to run out so what the hell, right?
Tech explores...looks at my aFe intake, oil catch can, Wag IC, VRSP CP....BOOM! Finds my JB4. (gulp) I KNOW...should have removed it, BUT... SA says they have to unplug it and run a test (318)?? I have it in map 0 but apparently many faults have shown up. I am hoping the SA is cool about it as I know the mgr in service has a few things on his own car...DP...o2 sim, etc. so maybe they diagnose and not report. My question is does this F up the other items in my warranty, not the 4yr/50k?? I do know they have to prove without a shadow of a doubt that the JB4 is the cause for the problems. There is no intake leak but they are still diagnosing. So should I be buying some "Depends"?? The SA did send me a link about DINAN ... said other "stuff" could void warranty blah blah BUT I wonder if I should get ready to bend over.... Anyone else out there know about these wonderful experiences? Last edited by RMNB; 06-14-2016 at 05:12 AM.. Reason: added |

They love when suckers come in with JB4 connected to the car.
That's an easy $300+ in their pocket without even doing anything. I hope your SA is a cool guy. |

I've personally never had a problem with warranty repairs.

I brought in my other 3 a couple of years ago and they didn't say anything but this is a new SA. I only have a month left on my warranty so i shouldn't be worried I suppose. Hopefully it's something that has nothing to do with the JB4. ...fingers are crossed!

Update... SA said they are removing JB4 to see what happens with coding and faults in the ECU,etc. I had no CEL at all but they are running further tests to see if JB4 is attributing to the issues.

That's a sign that they really don't plan to void your warranty. They would've refused the work right off the bat.

I tend to agree as I asked if I was SCREWED....he said I don't think so but nonetheless they still have to figure it out. Hopefully it's a coil pack, plug, injector, vanos , etc. Hell even the serv mgr. has a Cobb tune! He said he had JB4 before...lights went off on his dash...so she switched Cobb. Sounds like they're "user friendly" so to speak. Anyway, I feel better at this point.

I usually keep mine on unless it's big time work I need to get done. I did the same with the Cobb.
You probably had some shadow codes or something weird pop up. Let us know what they find in the end. |

OK here it goes...removed JB4, car seemed to idle better. They definitely said it was because of JB4 on their report however they changed the brake fluid, oil change/filter, and cabin filter under warranty. Charged me $308 for the diagnostics to figure out what they problem was. Several faults/codes appeared in the DME. Other than that nothing wrong. Just a typical JB4 bug of sorts. All in all I can't complain. Free loaner for 5 days plus some fresh cookies. Only problem is that while they figured out their computer glitch which had been down for 3 hours I went up to the showroom to look at a M4. Mistake...sell the 3, put in an order... BMW did it again. No not really...next spring...probably.
