Dash Cam

Hi everyone. Looking for some advise on dash cams since it'd be something new to me and I'm beginning my research

I'm looking at two models and was wondering if anyone has feedback on either of them:
- vicovation vico Marcus 2
- blackvoe dr3500 FHD

Also, my main concerns are:
- power supply: does anyone running a dash cam keep it running while parked via motion sensor but keep it plugged into a 12v outlet?
- anyone think that having a dash cam makes you a target for vandalism when people notice it?

I have 4 of these: 2 in my car & 2 in daughters car, very pleased with them, they also they have a built in battery allowing 30mins of recording if the battery is full.

I had a DR3500 for a couple of weeks before returning it for a DR650-2CH instead. Image quality is waaay better, especially at night. Don't cheap out on dashcam or you might regret it when you realize you can't make out any license plates because the image quality is a blurry mess.

The DR3500 is much tinier and more discreet though. So if that's a concern for you...

I installed it with a Power Magic Pro, and everything is tucked away in the fusebox in the trunk. PMP allows for parking mode with auto-shutoff based on time or battery voltage.

Whole thing takes like 30 minutes to do, including running the wires to the trunk. Our cars are super easy to install since the wires tuck away in the headliners so easily.

Just got my DR650 earlier this week, along with the Power Magic Pro... awaiting delivery of my Add-a-circuits. Which fuses did you use for the hardwiring?

I have Blackvue in my 2 cars...small in size and records v good. Blackvue now gives u a gadget along with the camera for continuous recording and it detects battery power when car is switched off. If battery power drops little bit, it shuts the camera.
If u want Blackvue, call the authorized dealer in Brooklyn directly. They give you best price compared to all online sites(Amazon eBay) and their customer service is the best. The dealer name is Rear View Safety, check the details on their website. Let me know if u need more information.

In one of my cars I have a Streetguardian SG9665C. It's only a single channel camera but it's been great and they are constantly upgrading features.

161 and 162. 161 is always hot (BATT) and 162 cuts out after 10 min or so (ACC).

I would also suggest the blackvue with the power magic pro. I think this setup will solve both of your problems.

The PMP allows you to automatically shut down your camera at whatever time you want.

The blackvue is also relatively small, so I don't think theft would be an issue.

I've never had any problem with mine!

Hope this helps.

Think I'm going to take your advice and go for the dr650. Watched some comparison videos and you're definitely right... Night time quality is much better with the 650

Mind taking a picture of your setup?

Ideally I'd like to mount it directly under the rear view mirror but I have the front facing camera that's integrated in the mirror (I believe for the auto high beam lights) so I'd have to mount it too low so it doesn't block the camera. Then I was planning on mounting it on the passenger side but I don't want to block the auto dimming mirror sensor. I guess I should mount it on the drivers side and just deal with having to see part of it?

Well, I planted mine right up against the back of the rear view mirror (from my viewpoint it's almost completely concealed, see pic) since I only have the auto dimming (light) sensor to consider and it's still working fine afterwards. You can probably also mount it high up on the passenger side near the headliner without it blocking your view that much. The camera rotates so you can still get a good shot from there.
