memory seat gong

I had an ECU (FEM_BODY) replaced last week, and they reprogrammed the car, updating the I-level to F020-16-07-501. With the new version, I no longer hear a confirmation gong when saving seat/mirror settings to memory.

Can anyone who has a newer I-level confirm if BMW changed the behavior? If not, any ideas what could be wrong? I haven't had a chance to check for faults in ISTA-D, but I assume the dealership wouldn't have given me back the car if there were still faults being reported.

I can confirm it's no longer there, just got my car back from service and I had them do a re-flash since I was having some issues with iDrive before. MY2016, gong used to be there but no longer available now with the latest flash

My car didn't have the gong when I got it, never knew that even existed, but I later found out about it while messing around with some coding.

It should be this code: SM2 > 3000 > MEMORY_GONG

Exactly the same happened with mine lately.

As I'm thinking of doing some coding to my 2015 M235i soon, just a question in this old thread: what's the last word on the ability to re-activate seat memory confirmation gong? I don't see it in the cheat-sheet... Can it be done?

It's not in the cheat sheet but it works.

I thought it was a firmware issue. P3.58.3 had gone. P3.59.x lost it.

Not sure then. It seems that the MEMORY_GONG function is still in the latest CAFD (cafd_000000b5.caf.012_007_001) of v3.59.2, so I assume the latest version only made it disabled as default since my car still on it's 10-2015 build software didn't have it on by default but I was able to enable it through coding.

The FDL is still present, however it has no effect. My F15 and a number of other members with F3x, F8x, F2x, etc have all reported it being set to aktiv and still having loss of auditory confirmation.

Hmm... So I an see some contradictory information here. I really do miss the confirmation gong; could anyone who had it from the factory like I did (my M235i is March 2015 build), lost it with general software upgrade by the dealer, and actually managed to program it back? If so, using which psdzdata / E-Sys versions? TIA,

Piotr

Seems like it's not codable; you'll have to downgrade your software on the SM2 module. If you can get your hands on an older version of a full PSdZ data on which it is known that the gong worked at that i-step level then you should be able to downgrade. I wouldn't recommend doing this though because the older software could potentially not play well with the rest of the updated modules in your car.

You would need 58.3 and with e-sys you can check dependencies so you do not have to downgrade more than necessary or end up with incompatible i-steps.

I think I have but I would need to verify that I have space available to upload.

No need to upload the full PSdZdata, you can upload only the required swfl's and cafd's. And then either create a TAL file from scratch if you know how to or calculate TAL with a newer version of PSdZ and then manually edit the TAL file and change the swfl and cafd versions for the SM2 module.
In my car the SM2 SWFL ID is swfl_00000cdd and the cafd_000000b5 for driver SM2 and cafd_000000b6 for passenger SM2.
I'll upload the files for version 57.1 with an 11/2015 i-step, so I guess this would work, just merge the psdzdata folder from the zip. I've also uploaded the a TAL that would flash to these files, you'll have to edit that if you have different btld or hw versions. You'll also need to change the installedECUList.

These are the exact same SWFL and CAFD versions in my uploaded zip. Only a different BTLD and HWEL than those in my TAL file.

That makes sense. HWEL should not change. BTLD is the bootloader.

Not so far. It may come back with firmware downgrade or future upgrades.
