BMW Integrated Navigation Retrofit

I received an email from BMWUSA offering a "Retrofit Navigation from BMW" for my 2016 M2. Does anyone know what this is (see attached pdf)?

The US M2 comes standard with navigation, hence my confusion. Seems like a mistake.

'The new BMW integration Navigation retrofit is the perfect solution for cars without the factory navigation system. The map is displayed on the vehicle's existing high resolution 6.5" display while the audio is output through the on-board speakers. The navigation system is controlled using a retrofitted "High" (CIC) iDrive controller in the car for seamless integration.'

Controller Holder Kit - $320
North America BMW Integrated Navigation Unit Kit - $400
Wiring Harness Kit - $80

A lot of BMWs don't come with it, such as my 328i that I bought just a few weeks ago, so apparently you can add it using this retrofit solution. Personally I don't think BMW should make a car that doesn't come with navigation given the premium they command. The sticker price of my 328i was almost $45k and it did not have navigation. Seems crazy to me. I didn't even realize it did not have navigation until I got it home.

I got that email as well and am considering it for my 328i. The cost of the parts is around $800. I wonder what installation would be.

I got the same e-mail but assumed it was for my wife's 128i. I just now followed the link and found it isn't available for that vehicle. As you say, I certainly don't need a smaller screen installed for $800...

I don't think they replace the screen.

Guess that explains why a 1-series with no screen isn't eligible. The intended joke was that all NA M2s have nav on an 8.8" display so the specs from the offer about a 6.5" screen are uncompelling...

Just had this installed last month in my 2015 328 .. I'm pretty happy with it overall. It integrates nicely into the I-drive system. The kit comes with a new I-drive controller that adds a nav button. The nav display is perfectly readable on the existing 6.5" screen. The system itself is a Becker Map Pilot, very similar to the unit they retrofit into Mercedes.
