M2 vs. Abarth 124
http://www.fiatusa.com/en/spider/abarth/
http://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/1.../first-drive-0 Thoughts? completely different cars though, I like purity fact about the Fiat, it's more than 1000 lbs lighter, has an LSD and Garrett Turbo but half of the displacement of the M2, at almost half the price too. M2 would be my second car, not my dd so I need no practicality. Decisions... |

I've been following this car pretty closely bc it had been rumored a while back that it would get the 4C Alfa engine. Sadly that did not happen but I did go drive one (not Abarth) last week while I was waiting for my Dinan package to be installed at the BMW dealer next door. For what it is, it's a nice car. Really just depends what you want to do with it.
For my money I think the Miata with targa roof (coming out soon) is the best of that bunch.

I owned a 500 Abarth. I also got a piggyback ecu for it. I really have mixed feelings about it. Firstly, Fiats depreciate like crazy, so it's better just to buy a one or two year old one for less than half of MSRP. It was fun but not M2 fun, but considering I only paid $19k for it, you can live with its quirks such as seating position and lack of tech. However, I could run to Sams Club and with the seats down, get everything in it and consistently got 36-38mpg with it. I probably drove it more crazy than I normally would since it was so inexpensive.

Wait it out a year, the price is going to drop by over 50%.
As a matter of fact, my wife loves the look and we're getting her one next summer when they end up costing $15K |

I had a non-abarth as well. Super fun, like a go-kart. Had a 42 month lease...the last six months everything started falling apart. Hard to hit that price point with as much as they put in them without cutting corners.

Based on this, you're better worth staying with the cheaper Miata Club

though I don't wanna become a car collector either. My WRX is my current DD and the M2 will be my weekend / fun car. |
