I guess you would have to pair your devices again... The tag can actually be used to find your phone tho. I guess it would have to be in range.

Just been reading...it uses bluetooth technology that works up to 100 meters...once out of the 100 meter range it relies on other TrackR users to be within 100 meters of the device. It then sends the location back to your phone.

Might be a bit hit and miss for a car tracker?

I think Jack hardwired in an old iphone behind the glove box....and had the cheapest contract he could find. Just used find my iphone. Simple but effective.

If everyone had one of these little keyrings then having someone within 100m wouldn't be a problem.
I know a few guys with who have used the old smartphone routine. It works well. This seems like a simpler soloution.

I did, with a pay as you go sim. If the car goes missing I can top up the sim and find the car. Paid £50 for an old iphone but many people will have one lying around the house unused anymore. Patched it into the cigarette lighter fuse so it charges every time the car is on. It'd probably stay active for a good few days to a week.
A better solution is a cheap android phone and 'where's my droid'. It has an option for a very accurate GPS location and you can send commands to the phone to make it ring etc.

The police can actually find any phone that's active as well.

With find my iphone you can actually get it to give you directions to the phone on google maps...

That's a great solution! I actually have an iPhone connection hooked up already and an old iPhone in the draw. Good alternative to a tracker

Neat, did a search for UK availability and found this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...sd_al_bw_c_x_1

I looked into buying some of these a couple of months ago, and there are a lot of different versions, but the one thing they all had in common was questionable reliability. In many cases people were reporting BT connection problems, even when they were only inches apart, hopefully the next generation will see a big improvement.

Jailbreak the phone so it is completely silent otherwise it either vibrates or bleeps once it starts charging.
You are best to wire it in somewhere and hide it. Under seats, behind a panel, under carpet. Wherever
