MY17 Ordering?

Hi All,

New to the forums and am currently looking at picking up an M4 to replace a Lotus (yes, not an obvious next car choice). Went and took an M3 for a test drive over the weekend and was quite impressed with the car but still want to test drive the competitors before I make my decision.

I was having a look at one of the forums talking about MY17 delivery specs.
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1278555

They're talking about the MY17 having iDrive 5.0 and Carplay, neither are deal breakers, but if I'm buying a new car, I always like to have the latest tech.

Spoke to the Dealer in Melbourne and he didn't know anything about the MY17 spec yet. Just wondering if anyone in Australia is currently looking at an M3/M4 and whether you've had the same conversation with a local dealer with a different view?

Looking at an M4, Competition Package and Carplay if I can get it. Happy to wait if it means I get new tech.

Keen to hear anyone elses thoughts?

Cheers,
matt

I haven't... But easy to find out!

Are you trading the Lotus? I might know someone who'll take it off your hands - can you PM me full specs, kms, some photos & what you want for it?

I've just order an M3 Competition. My production slot is early September so definitely MY17 production but haven't heard if AUS cars will have the updates you mention. I've only seen these updates mentioned for MY17 production on the North American boards.

Will be nice if they are included but not a deal breaker for me. Will be interested to find out though!

iDrive 5 & CarPlay is definitely arriving in US, Europe & UK cars from July 2017 builds.

Not sure if Aus builds are any different...

I think we just hope that we get iDrive 5.0. I do know we are getting an upgraded controller... Does this mean anything?

i dont think for the f80s we do the MY17 thing
sure the updates happen but its still classed as a 2016 no MY**
only get the year it was actually manufactured,

if you look at the history they did this for the e90
but try and find f80 with a MY** thingy

can anyone confirm?

If you are getting the updated controller i.e. the TEL button is replaced by the COM button, there is no Radio button, and there is an additional MAP button - then yes, you should be getting iDrive 5.0.

It's disappointing that you have to come to forums to look for this info. Dealers are either lazy or not being given the info they need to pass onto customers.

BMW need to lift their game.

Hi Ghosn - all good, I usually take what I'm told by a dealer with a grain of salt. If I want to confirm something, I've found these sorts of forums are always a good place to get quick answers from those in the know. I don't mind doing the research anyway.

Good news is I placed an order today. M4, Mineral Grey, Competition Package, DCT. Don't have a build slot etc yet though. Obviously the aussie cars are well equipped, don't think there's any other options other than sunroof/carbon ceramic brakes, neither of which I optioned.

Excited!

As far as I'm aware, the MY17 builds have started, no waiting needed.
