lowered to the track ride height

Took my M4 GTS to the shop for them to lower it. I have attached pics of before and after measurements. Taking out the c-clips will give almost a even drop of .5" all around.

Take note that because the springs for the rear is located almost in the center point of the control arm (between hub and pivot point). For every 1mm of adjustment you make, it will translate to almost 1.5mm of ride height adjustment. The c-clips for the front is 15mm and the rear is 7mm, but it gave about a .5" drop in the front and .4" drop in the rear.

1 tank of water last about 5 tanks of gas. I only had to refill it once so far.

btw, since you guys own a shop, did my explanation of the rear adjustments make any sense?

Oh that's not bad at all. Read an article where the writer stated "how annoying that you have to fill up gas and water every time". I knew it was just dumb journalism.

And yes, of course. It's all just Geometry at the end of the day

I have to run a front plate where I live. Every cop in town will pull you over for sure and give you a $137 ticket. I just have it on there with 3m double sided tape for now. I am still waiting for my personalized plates to be approved and then I will maybe use the tow hook mount from usmillworks.

That first tank of water was used on the Autobahn and also the alps in Europe during summer. So if you drive it in the city and not hammer on the gas all the time, it will last longer than the 5 tanks of gas. Also the weather plays a role, as it will use more in the summer months.

These are based off the clubsport, but different spring seats. Also, I think the rear top mounts is different.

Do you have camber adjustment on your top hats? Yeah rear top hats look different.

That actually makes sense now that I think about it.

I'm hoping there's a retrofit solution for it that is bulletproof soon. Would love to have this set up so I can say "Yeah my car runs on water."

Put it on tow hitch mount, keep it in your glovebox. When you get stopped tell cop you took off for car wash and forgot to put back on. Works every time !

Looks good M4_GTS. My plate mount arrived today, so thanks for the tip. I'm having my car lowered to the lock nuts not past?....I'm assuming you removed them and went past since you said race setting????

And I have less kms than M4_GTS but I have yet to fill up my water tank....I have 1500kms.

The track setting means you remove the plastic c-clips and lower the spring collar onto the lock rings. I told the tech to not touch the lock collar and supervised while he worked on it.

I think that plate mount is the best solution for those that must run a front plate.

Here is a picture of the clearance after lowering to the track setting. Having the orange splitter will reduce clearance by another 0.5"

Why is the orange part of the splitter off? Function over form, always!

Good try.

It was off the car because the front splitter was damaged during transport after the ED trip. BMW Canada had my dealer ordered me a new one and the paint shop needed the old one for color matching. At the same time I also had them repaired the damaged one. If you look at the most recent pic. The orange spitted is back on the car.

The car looks way better with the orange front splitter anyways.

So I have found that in street setting, I have pretty good clearance with the front splitter. I don't hit my driveway and I have not bottomed out on bumps that have my GT4 scraping horribly on the pavement. How is it in track setting for the GTS?
