For those of you without run-flats

What are you going to do when you get a flat? I noticed a lot of people with aftermarket wheels got normal tires instead of the RF's. Will BMW roadside just come and tow you for free?

Two options:

1) Get the slime kit... Either the cheaper "Slime" kit from Autozone (for about $25), the Continental Slime Kit from TireRack.com (for $75), or the BMW branded "Mobility Kit" (for $100+)

2) Buy the BMW Jack Set ($125), the BMW Tire Tote ($25), and keep one of the factory rims in the trunk (in the tote), which you can tie down with a couple of bungee cords, using the built in hooks in the trunk.

The second option is more expensive, but definitely more reliable.

On a side note, the ride quality is SO much better on regular tires. I went from OEM 17's (Type 159) + RFT's to Aftermarket 19's with regular tires, and the ride quality has improved - even with a +2 setup !! Imagine that. The car also handles better, and makes less noise.

Good luck with your wheel/tire purchase

I'd say get one of the above mentioned tire-repair kits.

We got the M-Mobility System because of the non-RFT winter wheels. Now we don't have to buy RFT summer tires either.

See M-Moblity System thread

I got the Slime 15 minute smart spair $20.00 and a floor jack $25.00, sure wish we could just buy a donut and throw it in the trunk.

I've done all this for winter tire season, the runflats will go back on, but I'm counting on using the slime kit for the runfats too, just in case the tire can be repaired.

ride comfort is better for normal tires, plus they're a little cheaper...RFT are just convenient. anyone have any idea how many miles the stock 330i sport tires are good for...assuming no donuts and that sort of thing
