M Performance Upgrades.

Hello all,

this friday i am going to see my dealer and finalise the M performance upgrades.

now i am torn what to order, currently i have ordered the DCT M2 in Blue, and i would like to fit the carbon diffuser and carbon M performance exhaust as well as the carbon/alacantara steering wheel, these bits i am pretty much decided on 100%

also it has crossed my mind to get the side skirt winglets although i am not completely sold on the idea ?? and the kidney grille do i leave it chrome or get the black??? and what about the carbon spoiler?? i don't want to make the wrong decision then regret it!!! i would keep the original parts anyway so i could always change them back however i would like someone elses input who might already have the carbon bits with the blue colour as tracking one down would about as easy as it was trying to find bin laden.

any input would be greatly appreciated i did also think about the colour black but i think the colour doesn't make you appreciate the gorgeous lines of the car i think the colour hides the lines.

thanks!

Kris

I got the CF diffuser and the stainless steel pedals, and will say they are both a must. The diffuser looks miles better than the stock plastic one and the pedals are worth every penny.

I'm on the fence about the grill - I kinda dig the chrome for now, may try to live with it and see how it goes. Way cheaper to just buy a black surround anyway then the whole grill.

I'm getting the side winglets. They were on my dealer's HEA and I liked the way they looked. Most of the other CF parts were really not that noticeable to me.

You'll have loads of time to change your mind... You'll be able to change the order until roughly a couple of weeks before the car goes into production.

You lose heated steering with that wheel, I think. I'm sure you already know this.

I think with CB diffuser comfort/keyless access to truck is impossible as the signal will be blocked.

BTW the CB interior trim looks nice to me, anybody did it?

You do know the M2 doesn't have Comfort Trunk kick access

My 328i has this. I have hell getting mine to open anyway. I probably look like an idiot standing there at the trunk kicking and swinging my leg around for five minutes. In theory, it's a convenient feature but in practice, at least on my car, it does not consistently work.

Does the CF diffuser compromise the contactless opening of tailgate (activated when optioned with comfort access)? I heard CF block the sensor.

A sensor detects a brief movement of your foot below the rear bumper and sends a signal to the on-board computer, which unlocks the tailgate. The tailgate then springs open on its own or is opened by the optional tailgate lift.

No need to worry about the CF diffuser, the car does not have the kick function to open the trunk, even with the comfort access.

Are you 100 positive?? I ticked that option just thinking I can have the kick opening!

Yes, the option is not available on the 2 series platform, M2 included unfortunately.

I thought about the rear diffuser but, to be honest, I didn't think it was that noticeable for $1,250. I did opt for the rear aero flaps, which at $1,350 are still a rip off, but I thought stood out (if you like that look).

I've mentioned it a few times but to get the stock allocation from my dealer I had to get MPE, CF tips and one other CF part. Their HEA on the floor at the time had everything. For my final CF accessory it came down to the diffuser, flaps or mirror caps. I could have saved money opting for the $695 caps but I liked the flaps. For some reason the spoiler wasn't an option then, or at least not presented to me as one, or I might have gotten that instead. It wasn't on the HEA either.

$1250 sounds really high to me. Did you price it out at a few BMW Dealers? I will look up the quote I got. All in with the rear CF diffuser and rear spoiler was around $1500 installed.
