Commuting
I might be starting a new job at Bolling AFB this summer and was wondering if anyone can tell me commuting options from Springfield. I lived in NOVA (Ft. Belvoir and Fredericksburg) for almost five years and dread the commutes. I bought a house in West Springfield and was wondering if the Metro or any other Mass Transit system runs to Bolling? I've also read that there used to be a good bike trail running through Bolling but have no idea if it is still there.

I live down the road from Bolling and my girlfriend worked at Van Dorn. When I have dropped her off in the AM at her work it took me about 20 minutes to get home. In the afternoon it can take a little bit to get on to 495/95, but the trip out to Van Dorn takes about 35-40 minutes.
On the bike path, I'm not aware if there is a bike path on Bolling, I know they have a running path by the water. I never see many bikes on base when I go there. The closest metro is Anacostia, I did see a lot of people walking from Bolling to the metro. I hope that may help you. |

From Google, if you exit the Navy Annex side it's about half a mile. If you exit the main the main gate it's about 1.7 miles. I'm not sure which buses you would take, but I do see a lot of people waiting for the bus at the bus stops outside the base.
