Soon will be saying goodbye
So my F31 335d journey is coming to an end.
The car had been faultless and for my daily commute from Edinburgh to Glasgow I don't think there's a better car. But.... It's never really put a smile on my face. The performance is effortless but is delivered 'functionally' without any real emotion. My real bug bear is that I had to fit ACS springs to make it the car it should have always been. Come on BMW! A top end 3 series shouldn't need modification to make it what it should be!! Also swapped runflats to mpss which made a big difference. Test drove a 135i at the weekend (no 140's available) and regained that missing smile. 21% discount later and a deal done on a new 140 with delivery before Christmas. I'll still come and lurk here as a I love the banter. |

Runflats I assume, or a car already scheduled as nigh in impossible to get an mpss car in until 2017.....
Welcome to the club a month in still only 500 miles on mine, but already feels silly fast keeping under 5k I was the same after my f31, so much happier to be back in a lighter more agile car |

Hmmm - now you've got me thinking. I love the engine in my 335i f31 but the dynamics of the car leave me wanting. I've got ACS springs but the damping is wrong so I'm thinking of getting the ACS dampers too. However... I wonder if I could cope with a smaller car. For me I'd prefer something smaller but I've still got to get the kids into it and then there's the holiday gear to think about.
Think I might go look at the configurator.... [EDIT] - looks like it comes with a manual box as standard too - mmm. |

There's not that much difference in interior space compared to my old f31, this shocked me. Yes it's a bit more snug but not as much as I thought it would be, obviously boot is a fair bit smaller but as said you can invest in a roofbox.
I was so happy with my decision on the drive home alone, so much more agile and grip, and the sport variable rack is great. My xD just wanted to understeer, drove me mad! |

As you say, roof box if I ever need the extra space. I totally loved the test drive (even though it was a 135) and felt an immediate connection with the car. The noise was great and just encouraged you to drive it! Now the fun bit of selling my old one privately... Have sold my last five cars through autotrader or pistonheads so not phased by the challenge but you do get some idiots wanting to offer silly money! |

i do like a small sporty car. If I didnt need the space I'd be going for an m240i, but the 340i is perfect for what i need right now.
