335d goes back tomorrow
So after 3 years the 335d goes back. I needed something bigger for a while so after looking at the 5 series touring etc I settled on the Audi A6 Allroad. Main reasons were the 4wd and the fact that it was cheap on a lease deal!
My final thoughts on the 335d; Engine is great. Plenty quick enough and has been ok on the fuel econonmy. C.42mpg on a reasonably mixed lot of driving The car has worn well and Ive had no issues in the 3 years bar for an engine warning light which has turned itself off now The technology is still great and I have all I need I have started to hate the handling and wish I'd have sorted this at the start. I also have a Golf R and thag is a lot more fun to drive I guess the acid test is would I still buy the car knowing what I do now ......and the answer is yes. I cant think of anything which would have done what I wanted better (at the time) and apart from the handling its a great all round car. I'm going to have mixed feelings tomorrow as I do feel that I'm trading down |

I completely agree with your views. Now that I've sorted the handling i absolutely love my car, and can't think of anything I'd replace it with except perhaps a 340i tourer.

I went from a 330d to a A6 to a 330d.
I just could not live with the numb driving experience and poor mpg of the Audi but i hope you find it OK. |

Ti Rich - im sure you are probably right and it's the first car that I have not bothered to test drive! As a motorway hack that can carry stuff at a decent cost (its close on £300/month) it will do a job for a couple of years.

Having had mine for 20 months and 30k miles, I have to agree.
I'm not so worried about the performance of the handling, as factory set up has been good enough for me with the Adaptive suspension. I'm sure if I went down the ACS route, I'd notice the difference, but the car ticks all the boxes for me as it is. Dilemma I have is what to replace it with, genuinely struggling. My needs have changed a little since getting the car originally and I think a Ranger (Wildtrack) or Amorok is on the cards next year, though my heart would love a Defender 130.....we'll see.... |

I just need more room. The F31 is far too small for my needs and, truth be told, has been since day one. I don't want to make the same mistake twice... The A6 has loads more room than the F31 or even the F11 for that matter.

Hi nordberg, I paid 1k depositand its e00 per month on the lease at 10k miles. Not sure the Allroad is cheap at moment but last time I looked the Audi A6 Avant was. I havent leased before but seems to be you just wait for something cheap and snap it up quick.
335d has gone and Allroad arrived....all pretty painless with a £26 fee for one pretty badly curbed alloy. |

Allroad deal was through vanorama
Re handover. Got letter about 3 months before end of agreement. Needed to give 10 days notice for collection. Car was under mileage allowance and pretty immaculate apart from 2 curbed alloys. They were ok with one as it was under tolerance, the other wasnt and cost £26. I was ok with this as it was a mess. They collect from home and had loads of dates for collection...all day time slot. Inspected by one chap from BCA, collected later in the day by another. I just signed to agree to pay the £26 and signed when car went back. Painless experience. |

£300 is a very good deal and I can see your logic. They do have a lot of room and the build quality is excellent.
I only had a 2.0TDi and expect the 3.0TDi to drive much better. For info I get better mpg out of my 330d compared to the 2.0TDi which was also lighter........work that out! At that price I might be tempted back but only with a bigger engine.! |

Audi seem to be hit or miss with deals - there doesn't seem to be much movement unless it's at head office level - sales manager doesn't have as much movement as BMW

This is a lease deal. They tend to come up when the manufacturer detects there will be a period of over-production. Rather than stopping production or changing tooling, they carry on regardless and offer heavily discounted lease deals to move the cars on. I got an incredible 2 yr deal on a new C Class a few years ago on the back of over-production. I can't remember the exact figure but it was a fully loaded C Class estate with AMG pack for less than £200 a month and 3 up front. Ludicrous....

Basically, the cost of the extras to the car manufacturer isn't that much, but when you, joe public, is doing the rounds, looking for a new car, you're much likely to buy the fully spec'd, pimped up ride, rather than the average / most popular. So, for an extra few £xxx, the manufacturer gets it off its books quicker |
