Whats up guys? New member just thought I would introduce myself I bought a 2010 335i xdrive sedan back in march, a few months ago a check engine light came on so I took it to BWM to have them look at it. They claimed my turbos were blown and wanted over $8,000 to replace them. I ended up doing the job myself and ordering a "few" extras including, Vargas Turbos GC Lites, ETS 5" intercooler, BMS oil cooler valve, BMS catch can, gutted downpipe cats and mid pipe cats, and got the MHD flasher. I just got the car running last night, been super busy between school and work. Haven't had the chance to break in the turbos yet but my first impression is incredible. The car sounds and feels amazing. After I break in the turbos I plan to switch to 40% e85. Ill try and post some pics later.

Big shout out to Tony at Vargas Turbos, he was a big help getting me my turbos and giving advice along the way.

Congrats on all that DIY, I wish I had the ability to go that far. Sounds like you will enjoy that ride, all the best and welcome, Tom.

Welcome, and that's not a small job so well done. Now share some cool pics of the job, you must have something!

Now that's talent. Not usual we get a new member around here telling us he casually replaced the turbos himself!!

That is in the process of a VR6 swap, precision turbo, fully built, and running on a VIPEC standalone.

Nice, not afraid to get knee-deep I see. Thanks for sharing, and surely you will contribute a lot and welcome aboard. Good to see you got an Audi sidekick as well. And the beer evidence is there to prove a successful project outcome.

The S4 isn't mine, it has been a fun build but not my project. I'll try to post a dyno after I switch over to 40% E85. Thanks for the complements.

That makes me kind of sad, the 2.7T is probably my favorite engine of all time. Still I'm sure it's a cool project, I know people love the VR6.

I came from the Audi forums (username Jumboblack1.8 on Audizine), and know just how incredible a project like this is.
If you can do a VR6 swap on a B5, then an N54 will be a walk in the park for you.

Welcome!

The 2.7T is a good motor, but needs FAR more massaging to make big power than the N54. It can also be a maintenance pig.

But, they are fabulous motors when fully built (rods, pistons, overbore, heads, etc) and maintained meticulously.
