Hedging my bet on winter wheels
I have a 2016 M235. I had an opportunity to get an M2 but stuck with my M235i order and am regretting that decision. So I may trade for an M2 next year or in 2018.
I need to get winter wheels and tires for my M235i. I am tired of losing a big chunk of money every time I trade because my snows won't fit my new car and my two year old $2k wheels and tires are only selling for $300 where I live. So this time I am trying to think ahead and try to get wheels (at least) that I could reuse if I move to an M2. The M235 wheels has a high offset compared to the M2. Here are the tire rack recommended tire and wheels for an 18" square winter setup M235i - 225/40 R18 - BBS SX 18-8 45mm offset wheels M2 - 245/40 R18 - BBS SX 18-8 30mm offset wheels If I get the M235i winter wheels and tires above, I could in theory use them on the M2 when I trade by using 15mm spacers. The tire would be a bit narrow for the M2 but that is not bad in snow. The speedometer would be off by 1.6 mph but that is trivial. Once the tires wore out I could just get the right size for the M2. Anybody see any issues I am missing? Thanks! Dennis |
