MY E93 335i vs Lightly modded 350Z
so
I just finished breaking in the engine and I decided to race my car against a friend so I'll list what he has done to his 350Z: K&N Filter Motordyne Plenum Spacer 5/16 Crawford highflow cats HKS true dual Hi power Dual exhaust Airduct JWT Flywheel Nismo Clutch so, we tried from the dig, rolling start, 3rd gear, 2nd gear.... u name it, we tried it every single time he was beating me by a bumper's length and he'd start to be taking an advantage... like he would slowly start pulling away from me.. but we'd run out of road... so in short, he beat me by a bumper's length the second I'd shift into 4th he'd get this huge advantage (he was halfway into 5th I believe) my RPMs kept dropping... our gears seem to be longer than the VQ35's is this a normal outcome in a race against a 350Z modded as so? he is a very good driver, and I had an equally good driver try with my car as well to see if maybe it was my shifting and it wasn't... I am ordering a JB2 and UR DPs... but regardless... I would like to know if the outcome should be any different

we're using each other as benchmarks....
now I know how far apart I am from him.. after my tune, I'll see the difference he is installing his TT setup in 2-3months time... no idea why he is waiting.. all the parts are sitting in his garage... so once we have a good idea of how the average CL between the two of us, he will install his TT so he can tell by how much he will own me...

E90 335i is in Montreal...
I didn't get walked by that much... he was actually surprised that he kept up and beat me.. he was expecting the same outcome as me... I'm sure that with JB2H + DP I'm going to do some damage he is actually very excited to see by how much he is gonna get beaten...

I beleive with the JB2 and downpipes (the same mods I have) you will win by at least a CL. It turns it into a different car altogether.

my brother has a new 350Z ...im pleasantly surprised of what is offered in the Z's. Apart from the LSD, first gear can take you up to 50MPH before switching car.

are u sure there is nothing wrong with ur E93?
boost leak or whatever? coz i raced a lot 350Z or the facelift that 350z with LED rear light everytime i raced them i beat them badly specially the older models |

how modded are those 350Z u are racing... please note at the mod list I posted above... that's at least 30bHP extra (if not more?)... he also has better tyre grip... my friend's Z is a 2004 if I'm not mistaken.... and I've seen what he does to stock 350Zs... he beats them by 3-4 CL

plenum makes a huge difference
I recall when I had my G35, a car that used to beat me by half a car lengths, once I installed the plenum spacer, I took it by half a car's length so add that to all that free flow of air and u got urself a lot of power

kinda sounds about right. the mods will give him around 30hp and the z is lighter too.

get any piggyback tune and you will see him in your rear view....once he gets that TT setup, if its tuned and boosted properly, you are toast my friend.
but once you loose, go pick up some girls and they will jump in your car vs his because BMW = Sex while Nissan = Junk

You go back to your friend, and switch cars.
Let him drive your car and you drive his. That way you will know if it was a drivers race or his car is simply faster than yours. Good Luck!
