Plastic dip?
What is everyone's thoughts on plastic dipping rims?
Cheap fix? Better to just get new rims?

IMHO.. Just have them professionally powder coated or... get new wheels. I hate the pasti dip feel/texture

Wheel refinishing is cheaper than new wheels and much better looking than plasti-dip (or doing it yourself with any type of paint). There are places you can take your wheels to and others that are mobile and will do them wherever is convenient for you. The refinishers will remove and refinish each wheel without having to remove the tire.

Are you doing it to change color or hide imperfections? If you like your wheels, I say plasti dip them. If you don't like your wheels, plasti dipping them or powder coating them won't change how they look and you still won't like them. If you want to change color, I say do it...it is inexpensive to do..under $50 to do all 4 wheels. If you have a lot of curb rash, I would get them repaired..but to change color...I say plasti dip them. It is changeable and when you sell your car, you can take it back to stock and not worry if someone will like the dark rims you had painted/powder coated.

I'm a huge fan of plastidip, I used it on my kidney grill and rear reflectors. Buddy of mine used it on his rims, didn't even prep them except for washing and they lasted over 2 years of heavy highway driving (sales guy, 1000's of miles)
best part is, if you don't like how they look, it just peels right off.

This is what im saying,
I want to change them to black i think the car would look alot nice with black rims. but i dont know if i want to spend for new rims ro just coat mine.. it would be just to change color.. on top of that.. i want to be able to change it back to stock if i dont like how it will look or get bored of it.. realistically i want new gunmetal rims.. but dont wanna shell out the money right now.. So i guess its a cheap fix for now? just dont know if it will look good or look too.. "ghetto"

Before I bought my new wheels for my F30, I plasti dipped the OEM ones...I think they look much better than OEM silver. This was gunmetal...

Hey man, I just auto dipped my dads f30. It's way better than plasti dip! I had plasti dip on my e90 and it was rubbish. Auto dip is glossy and thicker, and overall looks way better. Check er out

now the question would be, can you remove them as easy as you can with the plastic dip?
