e90 335d has a M57 motor. e90 330d has N57 motor. Newer F10 & F30 cars have N57.

M57 has 2 sequential turbos, N57 has single variable vane.

Slight correction. F30 gets a 4 cylinder N47, not the N57. X5 also use the N57 for 2014 and later. When F30'first came out, it could only be purchased with a gasoline engine. Not certain but think it was also 2014 and later F30 that had the N47 option
